6 weeks to go

The best looking Ferrari in production IMO (though I do quite like the 612) Shape vaguely reminds me of 60's Ferrari GT's which can only be a good thing in my opinion.

No idea what it drives like, but I can't see it being too rubbish in all honesty.

Nice choice Mark, but I think I'd have gone for a paler interior colour, a cream/biscuit hue.

Apples and oranges.

The 430 is too small for me and I wanted a GT. The 599 really is an amazing car to drive and can be whatever you want it to be from motorway cruiser to snarling animal.

I dunno, I never really bought into the whole "Ferrari tourer" thing, so to me the 599 and the 612 look a bit "meh", same way as I don't really like the Murcielago and prefer the Gallardo

Don't confuse tourer with Grand Tourer. The 612 is a different beast to the 599.

The 599 is faster than an F40 and they don't hang around. Here's a nice advert with performance stats of both cars at the end.

There are 3 colours you may like. Crema - very light indeed and shows every little mark. Beige - looks good and this was my 2nd choice. Cuoio - a caramel colour which didn't really go too well with Rosso Corsa.

Nero with red stitching in a Ross Corsa car looks sexual. You feel like your in a very special place whilst driving with dark, powerful forces at your control. It's moody, exciting and lusty. Just what a Ferrari should be :D

goes to show how things have moved on when a gt is "faster" than a full on super car from 20 years ago.

do those have the option of a manual box?

What an enjoyable video, absolutely beautiful machine :) Must agree with Lopez re the interior colour choice, but that's personal preference obviously.

599 is a Gran Tursimo, which is italian for Grand Tourer (I think)

430 is the more hardcore race car imo, especially in the Scuderia moniker.

Yes but it is hardly ever chosen. The F1 Superfast box completes the whole gearshift in 100ms. Try that with a manual box.

and a lot of the semi auto boxes now will get a car to 60 quicker than a manual box. its pretty much de rigeur for performance cars now... to go without would be residuals suicide i expect

Just... wow. I can't ever imagine being in the position to order something like this so I instead I will simply read this thread, and the envitable 'look at my new Ferrari' thread with awe.

It's gorgeous.

Thing is though, few paddle shifts work "properly", Ferrari ones do.
Things like the Lexus LS-F get silly though with 8 gears

Stock F430 no, F430 Scuderia yes.

Although Ferrari estimated a 0–100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds, tests have achieved a better time. During a track test, Evo Magazine achieved a time of 3.5 seconds and lapped the Bedford Autodrome in 1.23.10, making it faster than the Ascari KZ1, the Porsche 997 Turbo and 996 GT3 RS, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo '04, and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. However, it was still slower than the Gallardo SE ('06) and three other sports cars. Motor Trend timed an even better 0–100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds with a Ferrari test driver. Road & Track also timed the 0–60 mph time at 3.2 seconds in a road test which appeared in the May 2007 issue.

Incidently that Bedford Autodrome time of 1.23.10 was only 1.8 seconds slower than an Enzo, which weighs 300KG less.

Very good choice of motor :) I can only hope it's not like so many 100k+ motors and gets looked after badly and taken through car washes or to lame valeters to cover it in swirls :(
