Why do people spell bought as brought?

I hate it more when you point it out and educate them, out only for them to tell you to "STFU!"

Except most people will notice the difference when they read it.

I can tell the difference between "you're" and "your" still type it wrong sometimes. same with lots of words that start the same/ are very similar.

Although I never know which were/where to use :(

Where is for location. You can remember because it has 'here' in it. When I was a kid I said it in my head as 'wuh-here'.

Were is the time one.

Regarding your semi-colon/apostrophe issues, you could learn to touch-type: http://www.typeonline.co.uk

It doesn't actually take that long, just do a bit every day. :)

And for some god damn reason I can never hit the ' key only the ; :(

I hate keyboards :(

I thought that was just me? You can always tell my posts because they are full of "it;s"

Anyway to the point, I blame teaching at school and from the parents. My boss once brought the reading books he used at school at they were "phonetic" ones with words splet how they sounded and not how they were spelt. To this day he still spells everything as per those books and how they sound.
