Scolari sacked!

Right, ok so you're going to get a manager in, give him little or no money to spendon building a squad to play his style of football and then sack him because the players at the club don't play the style of football the manager wants to play and therefore can't get results. Good call!

Surely now only an unemployed manager or one with emotional ties to the club is going to want to take them on. Nobody in a secure job is going to want the chalice.

He got us in to a champions league final and lost the title by 2 points.

Grant gets unjustified criticism.

John terry missed an open goal from a yard on Saturday and was one kick away from winning the champions league, sometimes there's only so much a manager can do.

i wasnt criticising Grant personally
he did a pretty good job it was just how chelsea gave him the job then sacked him at the end of the season only to "possibly" bring him back again

anyway now Wilkins is in temporary charge anyone want to bet that he does really well for the first 3 games then gets the job permanently on a 4 year contract only to be sacked at the end of the season

:D

i think that's a real shame for the club, i thought getting rid of grant was a mistake but i think a club of chelsea's size should show at least enough faith in their manager to give them 2 seasons.

Instal the attitude & state of mind in his players where they will play there hearts out for him the team & the supporters, Wringing every tiny morsel of energy & bringing out every ounce of skill in All players whether World class or Youth.
Basically installing enough passion in the 11 players he has to field to over run the opposition no matter how many seconds are left on the clock or how many goals they are down etc

You could have more passion than anyone else in the world ever, but that still wouldn't make Kalou, Malouda or Drogba good footballers. Drogba has been a primadonna for years and never puts in much effort, going on about how Chelsea hurt him over his treatment when, what his grandma died, though they sent him over there in a private jet. he's basically a trouble maker looking to get out of the club and putting no effort into the club.

A quality player lacking motivation might play better given the right talking to, a turd player is a turd player is a turd player and you can't do much about it.

Its also hard to motivate say Ballack to play better when if he plays well, Kalou/malouda still screw up every chance he makes for them. For me its simply the squad he inherited is strong at the back and woefully weak outwide and upfront and none of that is his fault. The lack of spending, massive wage bill and owner not wanting to back him again is not his fault. I still say the fault lies with the guy who spunked massive money on lots of incompetant players, gave out far to high wages to far to many players and screwed your club.

I think Drogba has been his downfall?

How many times for Mourinho did he turn a drab draw into 3 points with a goal?

Also Lucky Lampards flukes have dried up??

just shows you can't buy it all, i can see chelsea free falling now, they are a bit of a laughing stock with all the money they have blown, buy a player for 30mil and give him away 2 years later to the club that brought him from.... fools! that team needs to be cut up and sold. so many players picking up there wages week in week out. rebuild is in order. fergie done it a few times at utd and so as wenger.

See to me I see a lot of, he should have done better, better tactics, etc. But what tactics, how would he have done better. They are one dimensional in attack because they have one striker, no wingers and can only attack through the centre. Maybe beletti/bosingwa as a right winger could have helped, but had there been 2 great wingers at the club surely they wouldn't be one dimensional. Likewise with another striker and not knocking it long to Anelka, and with wingers who didn't give the ball away constantly you'd be attacked less in the middle. LIkewise lampard/deco on the wings isn't going to help you defensively either.

Its all down to a ludicrously small squad in terms of quality, massive wages and being unable to afford to bring players in for the lacking positions, none of which is his fault.

Given the same players and the next manager, what will they do better. With no wingers, one striker, how will the next manager stop the offence being one dimensional?

It's already been stated by the club that something similar to that is going to happen in the Summer.

What exactly did Scolari get wrong?
There's been something seriously amiss in the dressing room for some time. This squad used to enjoy such high morale, even under Grant, that it was worth an extra man. Since LPS arrived, morale has gone downhill big time. Sure, Clarke's move away may be a factor as well but why did he move? Either his own morale was affected or he saw the writing on the wall.

I never wanted Mourinho to leave tbh. I do think, under Scolari we have been way below par this season, but i was looking forward to a team crafted by him over the summer. Everyone knows the style he plays and therefore the players he needs.

We need to bring back the days of 04/05, where we had solid defence and incredible pace in attack, with robben duff j.cole terrorising full backs. Along with this we had incredible fight and camaraderie, something we have not had since Mourinho left.

I just hope whatever happens now, we get in the CL spots and give the new manager the funds he needs over summer to build the team.

Love the guy, him and Jamie Redknapp are always spot on on Sky Sports after and before the games

You only have to watch the last word to know that Andy Gray knows his stuff

Im actually not sure if you're being serious or not. If you are then you'd love McManaman and Sherwood even more :)

If a big rebuild is in order will Roman cough up more than he's already spent? Things are different since he first arrived with the blank cheques.

He's lost billions and he's no longer the biggest fish. City might start playing silly buggers and drive any Chelsea targets prices up.

Also if Chelsea fail to qualify for CL then what will Chelsea have to offer that City can't??

Thinking about it, I've always liked the idea of Rijkaard with us. Perhaps not the best solution for right now, but given time and players he can make a fantastic side.

For now, we need someone who can re-ignite the players and just make them work as a team. Wouldn't be surprised with Guus Hiddink, Roman loves him and he's been linked to us for donkeys years.
