They probably had someone lined up weeks ago as it's been clear for a while that Scolari was struggling to make the changes needed.
What changes though, the back 4 relatively, with injuries, picked itself. lampards a given, essien would be a given, as such with no Essien Mikel pretty much has to play and is a fairly decent defensive option. Anelka is a given, Drgoba is utter pants. His only options are playing Lampard/ballack/deco out wide or playing malouda or Kalou wide, neither works well, the first 3 are just central players without question and aren't good as wingers, the last 2, are hopelessly crap wingers and worse anywhere else on the pitch.
What exactly did Scolari get wrong?
THe squad lacks wingers, and strikers and he was given no money to buy either, Deco might have been overkill though when played in a form chelsea side he's been brilliant, on the wings he's poor. But he's a slow midget so would be crap on the wing. 8mil for his quality is cheap and you wouldn't remotely come close to getting a good winger in for 8mil.
The one thing I think he's got wrong is not moving Beletti or Bosingwa up to the right wing and playing the other as right back, giving them an extra winger basically.
What do Chelsea fans actually think he should have done better?
