FEAR 2: Project Origin already cracked!

Yeah, I got suspended for Jesus a while ago, even though there was no official mention of it anywhere.

this is why i often try before i buy :p no way i would spend money on something that isnt going to run due to bad optimisation

+1, but never bothered with crysis warhead cos I knew that was going to be awsome, just pre ordered that..lol, and I kind of knew it was gonna run fine, cos I bought crysis before that. I dont think there was a demo out for that anyway??

so whats next, were going to get thread after thread telling everyone theres an illegal copy out to download of every PC release ? :sigh:

Only reasons the PC games market has not died a sudden death are because:

1: WOW
2: Russia & Asia are massive PC gaming markets.
3: Most PC games are now X360 ports which are very cheap & easy to make as MS supply the dev tools to make this happen very quickly.
4: STEAM even though I hate it has allowed PC publishers to make money from some of the games they put on it.

Gradually you will have noticed that the vast majority of all PC games do not use the hardware power anymore. Crysis & Warhead did but nearly everything else is just a console port and most are poor at that compared to what the PC is capable of.

The best form of DRM the publishers have right now is no more PC games & more PS3 & X360 titles. Which is the most likely scenario as piracy is out of control.

Supreme Commander has no DRM whatsoever, although apparently Chris Taylor resents the fact he didn't have it implemented...

He might resent it but he got 2 more sales than he would if it had DRM on it. I had the game preordered and got it on release, told 2 of my friends who went and bought the game a few weeks later.

Same story with DoW. I'm not aware of that having DRM and because we can use the SAME serial key for a LAN, it makes playing it very enjoyable. As with supcom, we now all own the game even though we only actually needed 1 copy between us.

I remember reading somewhere that Sins of a Solar Empire had a really small budget, no DRM and became one of the best selling games of 2008. Something along those lines. However, lets look at most of the rubbish that EA spits out. DRM heavy, rarely sells well and then they go crying about piracy.

Doesn't seem to hurt developers who make decent games ;)

Thats what i think, if you create a game that speaks for its self, it'll sell.

Problem is developers have got lazy and created games lacking in a lot of things that made PC gaming the best.

Perhaps the future is digital distribution, that way it allows the developers to sell nearly directly rather then having publisher time limits and cost control's.

Steam is a great platform and i think that is the start of the future of PC gaming.

Is there any point at all putting anti piracy measures on pc games anymore? Surely they just aggravate paying customers.[/SIZE]
Anti-piracy measures frustrate the copying attempts of the vast majority of people, and that's enough.

It's the same principal as with car alarms really - a decent sparky/mechanic could bypass any immobiliser given sufficient time so does that mean car alarms are pointless? No.

Problem with savvy forums/users is that they often assume because they or their circle of friends is savvy that everyone else is too. Just like the vast majority of broadband users aren't habitual leechers, the majority of people who buy games either have no clue how to pirate them, have tried and failed in the past, or whatever.

*Jesus Thanks for the info.jpeg*

In before maybe ?

In all fairness DRM is stupid what is the point it makes it harder for people who have paid money for it and pirates so easy as all they have to do is D/L it and follow the instructions given by "cracker"

this thread serves absolutely no purpose. piracy has been discussed to death and nice of you informing the pirates so they can go download it.

Tbh, I find it stupid that we can't discuss piracy here but people expect the thread ot be locked even though there are clearly no links or instructions to getting warez posted here. Simply info and a discussion that would not even remotely bring any trouble for the forum owner.

But you know my opinion about DRM, I find it pointless for them to waste time on, I dislike cd checks and crack most of my games or use mini images. I don't mind activating games provided they don't have a limit for activating. Think more people should take THQ's example like in CoH and Supcom, CD checks in v1.00, and removed in a later patch and a serial needed for online play.

yea but im guessing most pirates will have a unlimited d/l and just leave it on overnight.

Heck when I had to re-download WoW with ex packs that was close to 12gb. I just left the thing downloading over night.

Ditto with my steam games when I re-formatted my HDD I just stuck steam on and set it to download my games overnight.

Although in my cases they was digital downloads i purchase legally. But its just to let you know 12gb isnt a lot to download imo now adays.
