snowdog?! why does that look so terrible? have you altered anything/what are your settings cause there is no way that is the same texture quality i get here, also whats wrong with the nanosuit, it looks all messed up? should run great on a C2Q with 8800GTS, i turned off stupid streaming and it reduces 'stuttering' quite a bit, i can see why you think it looks bad now! :D

Edit: yes running in DX9 mode gives a slight performance improvement, should give it a try

Yes that ice level looks bad. But you seem to have based all your opinion about the graphics on that particular level.
What my point is though, why play it if doesn't have good graphics,...?

I've fixed it thanks, now getting 35-50 fps without AA and in dx9. Going to try edge aa and hope it works without killing performance completely.

there is something definately wrong there! the texture quality on the aircraft carrier on the right of your pictures is TERRIBLE! also the ice is all the wrong colour, i take some screenshots of the same level if i still have my savegames, though i don't get 50FPS :D ever...! but as long as its between 25 - 35 is totally fine :)

Textures are on mainstream not gamer or enthusiast if you didn't notice in my options screen. :) I'll see if Gamer's fine now ( used to drop it when I was on 3gb ram which caused stuttering in various games). Also remember my low res, 1280x720 isn't a great resolution :p.

play crysis at only 1280*1024 on my spare monitor, runs a bit crap on my normal one! try disabling streaming as well, that helps stop stuttering :)

I played on a 3850 and don't seem to remember the graphics ever looking as bad as they do in your screens.

crysis is by far the best example of how good pc gaming can get.

Sorry mate, but that statement is complete b*******!

Crysis is no were near the best example of pc gaming.

Maybe for graphics, but now i'd choose Mirrors edge as a model for amazing graphics.

Warhead looks twice as good as that on my lowly pc in sig.

something defo up with them screens lol

I have tried textures on max and edgeaa and although it runs fine, it still looks rubbish, something's indeed up but I don't know what, It'd help if I could get my res up but it won't allow me more than 1680x900, I'll try later tonight with 16X AF forced in nvidia panel.

upon playing that part of the game again i have noticed the textures there (especially the ice) are really odd  they don't appear to have any depth, worse looking part of the game unfortunately :( god bless crytek and there weird settings

Just try reinstalling it.
Why would that help, to copy the exact same files over again, I haven't modded the game or anything. I got it on a 1920x1080 by doing "M:\games\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis WARHEAD\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -DX9 +r_width 1920 +r_height 1080 now.

Finally, someone who can see what I mean :).

People say GTA IV ran **** but at least that runs 30+ fps even now that I play at 1920x1080... Crysis just fails on my pc, it needs a good gpu and it barely cares about RAM and CPU :(

GTA4 'just fails' on my pc, it needs a good CPU but it barely cares about GPU :)
I got way better performance in Crysis than GTA4 as the latter really needs tricore or better. Even with all the settings (except resolution) as low as they can go in GTA4 it still drops down to like 20fps in places. I had to play with both view distance and detail distance set to 1 (most other settings on high as I found they made very little difference to framerate, most likely GPU-dependent).

In the vast majority of games my system (3.15ghz C2D / GTX280) will easily match a C2Q with 8800GTS-512, but it gets left for dead in GTA4.

I know, but dual cores annoy me now because I like doing stuff in the background without having to worry about game performance :p. I mean I had a dual core when I bought GTA IV, immediately upgraded for my fav game and now I can't go back to dual cores :D. It's just a matter of what you find more important, I prefer gta iv over Crysis :p. And now I just got used to defragging and recoding things while gaming.

But the main reason I have the gpu I have though is because I didn't have a big monitor until a week ago, always used to play at 1280x1024 so it was good enough. Now I do need a new gpu though for 1920x1080 :(.
