You will be able to even if the pre-out isn't mono as the amplifier you use can handle that (I expect). Typically you'd be better using the pre-out to power an amplifier and two decent component speakers and add some sound deadening in the doors to tighten up the sound but if its just bass you want it should work OK.

I didn't think they did anything less than 2/3 pre-outs these days, even my old headunits had 3 a piece.

I bought a Blaupunkt DAB54 from a friend who bought it new for about £350. To my surprise, it didn't come with the pre-out lead. I had to buy that seperately!

It was only £6 so i'm not that fussed. That's got 2 front and 2 rear outputs aswell as the remote connection :)

So in order to have a sub i have to get rid of my rear speakers :|

The block connectors on the headunit run the standard speakers, the pre-out phono output on yours is to run to an external amplifier which can power whatever speakers you want, IE the sub.

The headunit sounds like it has an option in the menus to switch the pre-out between stereo full range signal or a mono bass signal so you'll be fine to use a sub with it.

The Mutant MTSPB12 has a class D amp! O.o

Let us know how it sounds...

Mutant are essentially the cheaper version of Vibe IIRC. The kit isn't meant to be too bad.

Brilliant, will a basstube run from the HU without an amp?

Itll do the job ;)

I normally scoff when I hear brands such as Mutant or Vibe, but class D makes perfect sense for a sub. It's nice to see a little ingenuity despite the fact it's bargain basement product. ;)

You don't really need masses off ICE to get a nice sounding setup, often less is more. :)
