Well they aren't adding any new levels, characters or weapons by the sounds of it, so I'd have been pretty peeved if they were charging! Sounds more like a glorified patch

they will be adding dead air and dead toll for versus so that's a big + :) but waiting till spring will kill me...

OK, email valve, and tell them to not allow the FREE content be downloadable to your serial key / account.

It's fine by me.

Basically like the end level of CoD:WaW where you've got to fight off endless hordes and whoever lives long enough wins. I'm thinking they're poaching levels from the co-op and versus mode, so probably no new maps.

Haven't expected anything less from valve, in my eyes the only company which properly makes pc games still. While not the prettiest games around, they provide free content over time, always make sure games run good on mainstream hardware, and support things like 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions properly, 5.1 sound properly, etc...

couldn't have put it better :)

give me HLx over Crysis anyday

Wouldnt have been happy to pay for this is as technically its a rejigging of current content rather than new stuff but with Valve being involved it never seemed likely that we'd have to. Having said that I would happily pay for new campaigns, i cant believe that im still not bored of the original four :D.

heh... u wont get any new campaigns ;) valve will only add 2 campaigns that are left for versus :) no more campaigns for coop.... but im sure modders are nearly done with at least 2 of them :) some are really good by the videos.. :) survival pack is useless by me... i wont be playing any of it.... i've already done 200hrs+ at these 2 campaigns so 200 more and im a happy boy ;D

This is good to know, but, isn't the current object of the game survival?
It is to escape.

Survival mode sounds slightly more depressing! It's about how long you can fend off horrendous death. Sounds quite fun, I can only think to compare it to CoD5 zombie survival mode (which was a hoot), bring it on.

In my opinion, the really exciting news here is the release of the SDK. I love you PC gaming, never change.

Also, why did we ever suspect micro transactions were in the works? Valve made it clear we would get free updates from the get go.

Something that pre-dates the CoD5 zombie mode by a lot and is arguably far better is the UT2004 mod "Killing Floor". It was my zombie game of choice until Left4Dead came out :)

Someone was telling me about that the other day. I never really got into UT so I missed out. Does it still have a following, or would it be pointless to look into it now?

Haven't got round to buying L4D, its on my list, has anyone seen my list by the way?

Anywho, yes Valve are a great company and in my opinion their delivery tool is spot-on fantastic. If i wanted to buy a game i first go straight to steam to checkout the prices/availability. They have always resolved any issues i have had, and their customer service is not too shabby (for an internet/games company).
