6 weeks to go

Bit of a car noob here but I was interested to see the "F1 Gearbox" in the spec. Does equate to seemless shifting with flappy paddles - like an actual F1 car? Amazing if so  Or is that transmision/clutch.. or something? :)

More powerful, more expensive, more exclusive, very close on performance. If anything, it's in a slightly higher league.
You were doing OK until you said "very close on performance". In a straight line, maybe, but please don't compare the handling of this car to a 599. It's not even close.

mmm this was proved last time I played forza, the scuderia was at least 4 seconds a lap faster. Probably the closest i'll ever get to driving one of these beasts lol. Can't wait to see some proper pics of it. Do keep us posted.

Tom.

Mercedes SL65 Black

Driving the SL65 Black on a track as awesome as Laguna Seca has certainly got the adrenalin pumping, but at the end of the afternoon I'm more grateful that it's over without incident than yearning for another go. And that's not what I expected. For all its jaw-dropping pace and sensational on-road presence, the most powerful AMG to date is neith a hardcore track tool nor a truly inspiring supercar.

Evo Rating 4 Stars
+ Incredible looks. Straight line-pace
- Not the sharpest tool in corners

But the internet said so......... It's eleventy true ;)

no evo said so

and to be honest, i value evo's oppinion over most. Especially when it comes to cars like this.

The bloke at MSN motoring or whatever that spends his days test driving 1.2 corsas etc.. will be a bit out of his depth with something this powerfull.

hey Spie

Buy a 1/8th model off me. I can make it an exact replica of your spec. :)

Interestingly I was in Bologna / Maranello on factory visits for reference photos a few weeks ago. Staggering difference in size between the two rival factories. If the Ferrari factory was the size of a football pitch, then the Lambo factory would be a small shed. Ferraris operation is immense!

Do you have to bed the car in at all? I.e do a thousand miles in it before giving it some beans?

As a daily driver how good are they? I thought Ferrari's required a fair bit of maintenance and such?

A fantastic car though, I'd love to own a Ferrari someday, but probably never will.

Have to admit that I was curious how you were paying for this so looked over the company accounts. I must say I never realised OCUK was so profitable! You must have worked incredibly hard - are you considering branching out from cars into something a little more rewarding, like yachts?

Maybe I'm just biased, but for the money you just spent on that Ferrari would you not get more pleasure from, I don't know, a Southerly or a Rassy?

haha enjoy the car my friend.

He lives right in the middle of England (I'd imagine), not many places to use a big yacht there :p

At least with this he can use it every day :)

I don't get this. How can you compare the two? One is a hardened track day animal and the other one is a high performance GT car.

Did I say I was comparing the two......... no

Just my personal preference. If I had the money and the choice, that's just the one I'd go for.

Very nice car :)

Top Gear repeat on BBC2 has proven the 599 gets 1.7mpg :p ;)

Spie what do u think about that? Clearly you have the financial ability to fuel the car but do you ever think about the G-g-g-g-g "Green" word? :p

And after watching a programme on Beeb1 this evening at Polar Bears and Ice! - Shame on your 1.7mpg* car!!

*I know thats being thrashed at a race track, before people start

I don't care about its fuel consumption. Coal fired power stations make the CO2 output of the 599 irrelevant.

In any case, I believe the whole CO2/global warming subject is a massive con.
