I'm seeing a dog tonight..

Pick the first one that comes through the door wherever they are kept ... oh and make sure you take out Pet insurance straight away !!! Westies are very prone to skin complaints and it costs a fortune ..

oh and I paid £250 (approx 12 years ago) ... Mcleod is still going strong :)

I'm going to see some 3 week old white Westies tonight.. My wife doesn't know yet.. Any tips or advice on what I should be looking at (keep it clean)and what price they normally go for.

Thanks

We paid £450 for ours 8 years ago. Make sure you see the parents, pick a lively one, and enjoy the 7 or so years that they take to calm down even slightly :p

Have a look in the ears, make sure the eyes aren't runny, check they've had their jabs (and look at the certificate from the vet stating this). Try and watch them walking, and look for any weird movements, weakness in the back legs etc. Common sense really.

As has been said, westies are usually great with kids. Ours is about the friendliest thing out there :)

We also have a scottie, and they get along fine.

They wont have jabs at 3 weeks old, 8 weeks. Sometimes 7 weeks is the norm for 1st vaccination then 2 weeks after that.

Well after shuting myself out of the house en-route without the car keys, we managed to see the puppies a little later than planned - an hour and a half later!!

Anyway, we now have an 8 week old Westie. No name yet apart from KC name. I took some pictures but havent downloaded them yet. Will post them soon.

She went through the night but I stepped in her wee this morning - lovely :/

My Mrs was well chuffed as she didn't know.

I have a westie myself, he's nearly 11yrs old now, perfectly healthy and going strong. He was the runt of the litter (why i chose him) and i love him to bits. His name is dexter :)

Congratulations on the new dog Huddy :)

I fully expect to hear how it's eaten your dinner, and jumped in the bath* with you soon ;)

*I think most dogs do that once if they get the chance.

Me and my mum bought our Westie at 3 weeks old too a few years ago now.

All about getting the runt of the litter. He was so quiete at the back whilst all of the others were yapping away wanting attention.

We chose him and he still looks young now!

Wouldn't have picked another one!
