HTC HD - you got one? what you think??

Has anyone else noticed their quickmenu (top right little square button thinggy that shows currently open apps) takes AGES to open, and even longer to respond to presses on the "X" to end any apps? Also the red "end call" button is very sluggish when ending calls.

Other than these slow things, I'm very happy with my Touch HD

i got the touch HD on Orange dolphin for £30 month, to fix the 3-5sec freezes and the slow response Heofz is saying there r very simple hotfixes on there website took me about 30sec to install n fix me phone!! love this phone and would recommend it anyday!!

yeah i downloaded all the hotfixes recently but none of them really fix overall slowdowns.

Also I noticed there appears to be some sort of memory leak. When first booting the phone it says 37% memory used, and now it's at 50% a day later, having used a few apps but are now no longer running. Is this just WM6's way of "superfetching" or is there a genuine memory issue meaning I have to keep rebooting my phone every so often?

I have no problem with the end call button, mine is instant, but I agree with the quickmenu, it is pretty slow.

Could someone who got their phone from mobiles.co.uk help me a little, I got my phone on the 16th of December and i'm just trying to work out which months bill I need to send off (third months). Would it be the one that comes around now or the one that comes next month? (I'm away from home so can't physically check the bills.)

If you got the 18 month contract, you will need to send off your June '09, Dec '09, June '10 bills, and only then will you receive your money back, 1/3 at a time :o.

These companies rely on you forgetting to do this, and knowing myself I'll forget it too, so I used http://www.futureme.org/ to remind myself

I was pretty certain it was 3, 6 9 and 12...

I'll go and check now though (although you are probably right).

Yeah, that is why they do it, but I managed a couple of years ago so hopefully this time I will remember too. Think i'm going to stick some reminders on my phone too. :D

EDIT: It appears it is actually months 6, 9 and 12 on 18month contracts for the £35 a month O2 contract, so that is June, September and December. :)

Wow I'm glad you checked, I totally missed the 9 months one :D

no idea why I thought it should be 6,12,18

I've just ordered one of these from phones 4 u on Orange.

18 month contract, free HTC HD, £35pm, 600 mins calls, 3000 texts and 10 months half price line rental by redemption (so £175). Works out at £455 over the 18 months.

I decided not to wait for the new ones as this will do exactly what I want and if being a geek has taught me one thing it's if you always wait for the next best thing you'll never get anything.

I'll probably add the £5 internet package; have I got a reasonable deal?

Now just got to work out what software I'm going to stick on it.

PS I've upgraded from a payg tesco mobile and this will be my first mobile contract. After playing with my wifes windows smart phone I just really needed a new toy.

to be honest id of rung up orange and tryed to get the internet thrown in on that. 40 quid a month is a lot. Plus that contract you got actually is 30 quid a month with free phone on orange, but not half price line rental. But you can barter it in really.

I've tried before to get orange to add internet to my package but they wouldn't budge. It might have just been down to their crappy customer services and I was unlucky enough

I'm not sure what you mean.

It's £35 a month, with 10 months half price line rental (£175) paid back in 4 installments over the length of the contract. Which makes it £455 over 18 months or £25 a month.

Unless I'm completely misunderstanding redemption in which case I need to know asap and cancel this.

Argh i just got told by orange taht because i have 3 months left onmy contract they cant give me a good deal on my phone. But surely tahts ilogical because in 3 months its likely other networkds will be selling the phone and i can finaly get away from orange at least. So i would have thought they just shot them selves in the foot as they had a garranteed sale back into orange for two years.

I honestly don't know why people want to get this phone on orange. For all you know they've introduced physical branding on this phone now and their customer service reps are uncompromising and unpolite ****s.

Plus you will never convince anyone at Orange to let you replace the unlimited texts with unlimited web, it will never happen, which means you need to spend another £5/month (£90 over 18 months) getting the same deal as O2. And its no better unless you send more than 500 texts a month...

O2 via mobiles.co.uk all the way

P.S. And did I mention Orange reception sucks? :p

Orange reception only sucks in certain areas, other areas it may be better than all other networks. People have also changed unlimited texts to internet. Stop trolling.

Edit: I've also just found a deal on here; http://www.buymobilephones.net/mobile-phones/HTC/HTC-Touch-HD-Free-Line-Rental-Discount/85,7349

For £29 per month you get 400 cross-network mins + Unlimited texts. So you could add a network bundle for £5 or try and hopefully change unlimited texts

I went to orange yesterday in Leeds... told them i wanted the HTC HD with internet access..

£37.50p a month for phone with semi good package, something like 600 mins, 400 txts a month and another £5 a month for internet access package...

£42.50p a month, tried to haggle with them, said i had £30 a month to spend, readynow, will sign right a way, but they were not interested, didnt even give me any other offers, nor another phone package just looked at me and said, over and over, its £42.50p a month...

I walked out.

Will wait a little longer i guess.

There is an unwriten rule in most call centers as im sure there is people on here that work in the them. When you get customers been greeddy and rude or shouting and using the let me speak to your manger crap you will get 0% nothing. If people in genral try keeping their toys in their pram when your told no and not turning into a knob you be very supprised what people give away for free....after all its not their money:D
