I hit that problem too. So I exit the Steam Interface. Also exit it from the icon tray. Then I run the game from the desktop icon, it works now.
You have to keep trying that's a bug of steam?
 
best game ive bought for beards ! really am enjoying it!

also, finally got the THQ site to register my game so ive got two packs - Chapter Command Wargear Set and the Artificer Wargear Set ... nice ..

I'm getting random crashes coming loading back to the campaign map after missions.

There is a news post on the dow2 website, they have acknowledged there is a problem and are working on a fix, which is due to be released in the next 24 hours

It can corrupt your save too, leaving you with no missions to do after you load back up following a crash
 
This game is appauling. I didn't think anything could be worse than GTA 4 for having to mess about updating, creating accounts and generally ******* about so well done Microsoft and THQ, nice one. When I finally get it installed and have the appropriate accounts and profiles it won't log in so I can't save games! Unbelievable.

Also, RTS my ****.
 
Much prefer the first DoW. This is just a rather bleh clone of Company of Heroes (sort of) and DotA.
 
Just saved my game, day 8 or 9, and went back to the main screen. It was PINK with the words "Low VidMem" or somethin similar.

Grr...

As for the game, its not too bad... Only playing thru the campaign (I suck online) but its ok.
 
Do the missions get any better? So far it's just; kill comp controlled squads that seem to have no AI apart from 'shoot until dead' and then a very boring fight with a special mob, that is basically the same fight every time even though it sometimes wears different clothes or has a different weapon.

I know Dawn of War and it's expansions weren't much better but at least you could play with the AI a bit and let them remake their army and have another fight, now it hasn't even got that. Very Emperor's new clothes.
 
i think its very fun, only played first 4 or 5 missions, i think its awesome, up for a game later if anyone fancys

EDIT: cant find skirmish.....is there skirmish......?

I agree, i played coop with my brother and all we did was move point to point killing groups of enemies. Im Missing the base building a lot right now.... and using tactics and strategy :)

I hope the skirmishes are better.

Of which not even 6 were played... the devs have said this time around they will ship with few maps, see what works and doesn't work and keep creating new maps tailored to that.
 
aww man ive changed my mind, they have took out the huge special units ? and there **** all to build, even in skirmish :(, dammit, shocking.

but the campaign is good.

I forced myself to play the SP this morning and good god... it is absolutely dire. It's so dumbed down it's not even funny, almost patronising even, and I was not impressed with the quality of the in-game cut-scenes or voice acting either. This game just feels cheap.

if you turn it up to 'hard' difficulty (can't remember what its called in military rank terms) then by about day 6 and above it starts to get a bit more tricky, and you cant just plonk your squads in front of the enemy and hope to gun them down.

I'm enjoying SP so far, and atleast there is some kind of a story as opposed to the last few DoW expansions.
 
I'm playing on hard difficulty... :(

DOW is a vastly superior game imo, not only to play as SP, but in terms of general "fluff". DOW 2 just doesn't feel like 40k...
