no job, live with my mam, 21

you're pretty ignorant.
getting up at 4:45 isnt going to prepare you for basic training in the armed forces, concidering a cake job is in no way comparable to that of a day in the forces, its more than just early mornings.
There are rolls in all 3 forces where you wont be doing much fighting to be honest, as in none at all. But you never know, you might actually mature into a man if you join and realise sometimes you have to do some things you dont like.
Sounds like you're just a big cop out, all talk no work.

I only meant in repsect to getting up for the Army nothing more. Everyone says man up and join the army as if to say fighting is involved but I don't like the Army and i will never work for it. Never get a career you don't beleive in. I got into college before with my GCSEs so I can do it again (hopefully).

apprenticeships don't have age limits now, not since the age discrimination law passed a while back.

When I joined my apprenticeship in 2003 there was an age limit of 21. Then I think it was the 2006 or 2007 intake, the age limit was scrapped. They now take on people of any age onto apprenticeships

Time to make a decision mate, either continue learning, gain skills and get a job or start applying for jobs now with what you have. Go for an entry position or volunteer.

There are far too many total idiots in this thread, the OP excluded; especially the trolls who come in to give their 2 cents and call him a loser. I hope that the recession leaves you out of work so you can see that "you cannot simply stroll into Mordor" so to speak.
Yes because all those that you look forward to being out of work have also been sat on their backside for the past few years like the OP.

I don't do much all day, usually get up late after noon. I go to gym Monday, Wednesday and Friday. My friend doesn't work either so we just hang out and play guitar or video games..

You have no idea how hard it is to get a job where I live and with nobody to help me. maybe i didnt do a lot but I learned to play guitar and built a solid relationship, i'm proud of that.

You are 100% correct, I have no idea how hard it is to get a job in your area, all I have to base an opinion on is the comments you have posted in this thread, those being the ones I quoted above.

Both of those give the impression that you have not tried your up most to obtain a job or secure a future for yourself.

You'd be supprised how hard it is for a lot of people to get jobs at the moment, never mind when the country was in a better state, and since you've not worked for around 3 years, to say that just makes you sound a bit lazy to be honest. There are always jobs out there if you look hard enough.

Mcdonalds take on near enough anyone... its a start to say the least and at least it is a bit of experience to put on your C.V, that will benefit you a lot when looking else where after you've been there for a few months. Even part time is decent enough if you want to go to college and go for a course where you can do 3 days on, 3 days off for example.

You don't have any idea but you generalize. If you don't like the way the country is run, know what you can do? Yes thats right.

Ehh? That makes no sense? At what point have I commented on how the country is run? And no I don't know what I can do in regards to that?

I have not generalized, I have commented on one individual based on the limited amount of information he has put forward.

Would you mind explaining what you were trying to say?

I'm 22, unemployed (but damn I'm trying hard, just putting in an application at McDonalds even *spits*), live with my mum, crap college grades (had major issues from 16-20).

I don't know if it is something you've considered but if not you might want to look at temp agencies, sure a lot of the jobs you'll get will be boring and not challenging in the least but you're a) earning money and b) more importantly gaining experience so you've got something to put on a CV.

Do you guys realise how insulting it is to people in the armed forces when they say to somebody who is **** at life *Join the military*.... basically saying because your not good enough for anything else lol?

Nate,
Forget thinking about "what can I do for a living", "what can I learn"

What do you like doing apart from eating cake and staying in bed...
Start with what you like as a kid... Don't grow up because you think it's the done thing.
Maybe you like putting together RC cars, or you are good at taking photo's.
Just ideas you might be able to work FROM..
Choose something you LIKE not what you "must do to fit in".

At least we agree on something, what you said did make no sence till I used my idiot decipher and translated (hope your job doesn't rely on legibility). I don't have to explain anything, its all there in my quotes.

I think it's more of "The armed forces will put some sense into you" rather than you are useless so join up. But I agree it is an insult, the armed forces is no place for someone without the dedication and ability required.
