**EMPIRE TOTAL WAR**

Quick guide to changing troop numbers: Go to the valve folder/steamapps/common/empiredemo and open demo1 with text pad. there's more than one way to find the relevant entries but i searched William Howe to find it. Once there you can edit the unit numbers.
<unit unit_category="infantry" num_soldiers="80" script_name="britain_guard_infantry_02">

It seems that the size of the file is fixed and any change causes the game to crash so to add a character you have to take one away. So if you're changing 80 to 800 you can either remove a character from another unit and make their 80 become 8 or plunder William Howe's name for the needed characters.

Excellent game, but wow the loading takes forever and for me spoils it, waiting 5mins for the game to load and another 5 mins for it to go into the battle is very poor, anybody else having this problem?

Yeah it takes a while on my system too, who knows though, could just be something about the demo doing that and maybe release will be faster. Probably not, but you never know. If not, I expect its something that will be reasonably quickly solved in an optimization patch post-release.

Yeah I hope they fix in the full game as it really spoils the game, also another thing that bugs me is you cannot zoom out enough so you can see more of the battlefield and the moving of the map is a little slow, something I liked from CIV4, other than that looking good so far will be a deff purchase if they can sort the loading issues out :)

It ends in the very very early 1800s, just before the napoleonic wars, which seems ripe for a Napoleonic expansion pack

Darn, i was hoping for some napoleonic goodness in this version. Will there be rifle regiments in this or will they appear in an expansion too?

The zoom doesnt bother me too much as I normally play Total War games with the camera restrictions turned on so that I cannot move the camera too far from my troops anyway.

Its a good move I think to make the napoleonic wars as a separate expansion, there is so much content that you could include in the Napoleonics that I dont think it would do it justice unless it was a separate package.

I expect there might be some of the very early rifles in the game (1776 onwards), and certain to be some in any potential napoleonic expansion.

One game that I have on preorder and cant wait to get.... its going to be amazing, I have the elite version on preorder!

Will the full game require steam to play it?

No

EDIT : Ah wait hang on...actually I am wrong. I had thought you only needed steam if you wanted to multiplayer ETW, but actually it seems you need it for single player too. So ignore my initial reply, the answer is actually Yes, you do need steam.
