Whats the best antivirus program in the world?

Common Sense v1.0. Free, no subscription, uses no resources, works with all applications.

Even the 'best' AV software can be disabled by sophisticated malware - but not if you don't let dodgy code run in the first place.

rename your pc to say "viruses and trojans not welcome"

that will sort all your worries :)

Ive used Avast and AVG with no problems (not together obviously)

Isnt Zone Alarm the best in the world?

IMO, Kapersky.:) I've used AVG and what not but it seriously doesn't detect quite a number of trojans. Used Kapersky and cleaned everything without any hassle.
Just bought myself a new Kapersky for a good price in the high street but I'm kinda regretting it as AVira seems to be getting quite good reviews. Would be interesting for me to try it out tonight!

I think kaspersky Nod32 are the best 2. But, i would like to think i can cope with a freeware AV program. And that one is Avira, which i have to say, has been solid for me for the past 18 months.

This week I'm setting up a test at work, to see which of the following , AVG, Sophos or Kaspersky work best. (as we are changing our AV supplier)

I'll be installing them all on identical unpatched XP vanilla PCs and shuving them outside our firewall to see how long they take to catch some nasties. I'll also be going to loads of crappy websites and such, trying to catch lots of maleware too.

Avast.
75 Million users say so
Although 500 zillion flys like eating crap so Meh :p

Seriously though I have used Avast for nigh on 2 years now & it is Light, Free & secure, Not one single problem the whole time I've used it

Echoing this. I've used it for 3 years solidly, on and off before then (if memory serves) and it's been nothing but a joy to use. It has a small system footprint and is free.

With half the crap I download off usenet it's done a really good job of protecting me. What's there not to like?
