Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Well i've just looked at this! do you really 100% need the fight stick to be comfortable with this game ?

the last fighting game i played was Mortal Combat , i can't remember witch hah :)

so is this game for noobs too?

If you like me only started playing Street Fighter II back on the SNES rather than down the arcades, and thus more comfortable in using the pad, then go ahead! For the first day or two, I couldn't decide between the 360 analogue stick and D-pad, but eventually I got used to the former and it's really fine now. Even doing E-Honda's or Guile's Ultras are pretty easy. Don't let any elitist tell you that you aren't playing it properly unless you pay for a stick!

And yes, it still continues to be very noob friendly. If all you want to do is boot the game up, pick your favourite character and unleash some good old specials, then it's still the same Street Fighter game that we all love :)

Got me sold then :) cheers guys i shall pick that up tomorrow if im not getting it already i might get the collectors edition just so i know the stick is there waiting :D

I have a hori ex2 which is good, but I also have no problem using the analog stick on the 360 pad, I find this far better than the d-pad.

I only use my 360 pad as when over my friends houses this is what I have to use, i can't lug the hori everywhere I go so I mainly practice on a pad.

To people thinking they have to go out an buy a stick, try it with the controller first you may have no issues with the controller and will be wasting your money on a stick.

Awesome game, apart from Seth. At most he seems to be a random person to beat, beat him on hardest last night in 1 attempt with sagat. Then had a go with Ryu on medium and had to rage quit after about 8 tries.

For those that are using the pad, why is all i hear D-Pad this and D-Pad that. I use a pad and use the analogue and consider myself to be okayish (around 1300 battlepoints at the moment and so far 14 game win streak record online).

I really cant get away with a dpad, i guess im used to a joystick with streetfighter so analogue is the next closest thing..,

Are you talking about the 360 or PS3 pad though? Imo the d-pads are worlds apart and i would also probably use the analogue stick on the 360 as it's positioned better. Doing ok with the d-pad on the ps3 here, i'm nowhere near your rank but from playing people with 1000BP i'm going to put that down to lack of skill rather than poor control method.

im tlaking 360. And to be honest i think having a battle score of 1300 is a lot down to me playing quite a lot not really skill :) I do know akuma quite well though, but a few people on the forums are consistantly beating me once they learn how i play with him..

So where are people in the UK getting their sticks from anyway?
Tried <Highstreet stores starting with G, H and G again> and all 3 said they wont be stocking them in store or online as they'r considered a 'special' purchase for 1 max 2 games, so wont sell well in their stores.
And <Online retailer> not had/ got any either..

I have a huge blister on my thumb, but loving this.

I have no idea how to do some of the more complex supers though. charge back, forward, back, forward. I struggle to do a nomal Sonic Boom

I have to rock the pad in my hands. I can't grip it tightly, it has to be kinda loose. Treat it gently. :D

I am so sick of Sagat players spamming high and low fire balls. Its impossible to get close to him.

It just takes practice, the only moves I still have issue with are moves with charge down, up and punch or kick. I have never been able to pull these moves off at will.

Anybody got any hints for getting used to the links in this game yet? I'm still struggling with some combos such as the Blanka trial mode stage 4 (normal)

Jump > HP
Back+MP
Back (Charge) Forward + Punch (Rolling Attack)
EX Punch+Kick

I instantly start holding back (to charge up) when I jump and land the first two attacks but the roll always gets blocked no matter how fast I try.

Any tips? I mean I have no issues with the motion of the actual attacks but getting them in without being blocked is becoming quite irritating, I've done it once out of pure luck I suppose but have never gotten past it a second time.

I am using a stick by the way!

I think I will have to try this, I grip it so tight! I have blisters on my midle finger from holding it so tight.
