Maybe because other European countries have better sex education?
Also, America has pretty high teen pregnancy rates so its not just Britain.
No wonder the UK is in the state it is!
They know they'll be provided for by the taxpayer. And if that's not enough and they do a crap job of dragging the child up then again the taxpayer will be there to pick up the pieces.
Stop paying people to breed and the problem will reduce, surely?
The argument against that is that we can stop being uptight about sex without lowering the age of consent.Sorry Nitefly, I'd probably argue the opposite! While people in this country choose to remain uptight about sexual education for youngsters, and sex under 16 is still seen as 'naughty' and hence hushed-up, it's gonna be (seen to be) a problem.
It matters because I'm in a competition, thats whyWhy does it matter? It's just an arbitary limit anyway. What's happening goes deeper then legality.

This may sound a bit harsh but IMO if people have a more than 1 kid without being able to fully support it themselves without relying on the taxpayer to pay for them then the kids should be taken into care as the parents are obviously too irresponsible to know right from wrong.
So punish the young child for its parents mistakes?

In some cases it would actually be in the child's interest though. If someone is trying to raise a childe who is infact still a child themselves -- as we're beginning to see -- it will only cause developmental problems and issues later in life. If the adults of the original child can't even stop their own from becoming a parent, then they aren't exactly what I would deem as 'good' parents and thus they will probably fail their new grandchild. Therefore in this instance, such a child should probably be put up for adoption which would infact be in its best interest and indeed, those around them.
I think that makes sense.![]()
