LOTRO Free Trial and anyone still play?

Mines of Moria starts a new Epic chain of questing of which on completion you get given your first spangly legendary weapon :D..

I would also say MoM really turned around PvE for me, actually made me go back and play on my freeps and enjoy them!

How did the new card work out? Im playing on a 8800GTS 320mb at the moment and it takes a while for all the stutters to settle down, so im thinking a 1gig 4870 might be the way to go...

Will let you know in (hopefully) about an hour just need to install it. The rest of my pc is really slow tho so that is probably playing a part.

intel pentium 4 3.00 Ghz, 1024 mb ram, and now the 4670 512mb. Not sure i'm gnna renew past my 7 day free trial, the controls seem quite niggly (maybe i'm just used to WoW's simplicity). Getting DoW2 and Empire when it comes out anyway so i won't be short of things to play hopefully :D.

Control issue's ? wasd or use just the mouse how hard can it be :p ,, ive NEVER played WoW so i cant comment on the differences.

I have played WOW (only up to 53 though before burning out) and I must say, I do not notice and difference in the controls, but you know, when you feel uncomfortable with a game its probably not worth persisting beyond the trial period. I must admit I did feel uncomfortable in LOTRO, mostly because of the combat - it didnt seem as immediate as WOW when you had to queue up abilites - but the upside became apparent in the way the combat skills interact with each other - loving it now.

ionteresting specs, I suspect your ram is a big limiter, 1 gig is titchy these days it might be worth getting a cheap upgrade there. I have no idea about CPU's, the whole 3ghz on this is better than 3ghz on that confuses me :)

I can't really put my finger on why, i just think the moving and the combat is just not quite....right. Somehow. WoW just feels much easier and smoother, especially the chat controls which are a pain in the *** on LotRO, when you can't even send a tell to random people?
Problem with my ram is it is original DDR so it's quite expensive to upgrade. That, and I wouldn't have a clue where to put it in my computer.

yeah its just the trial but I dont think it'll make much difference to your experience. I know exaclty what you mean about the controls and combat, it all feels more jerky whereas with wow, especially my rogue and for instance stun locks, it was so much more immediate. In LOTRO youre often looking at a timer waiting for your combat command to execute whilst you fwap away with your standard auto attack which you have no control over. All I can say, and im not trying to get you to play past your free trial honestly, is that it becomes a lot more meaningful when youve got the varied attacks that happen with all the classes around 20. As an ex-rogue I can quite get the hang of my burglar but as someone who has never played a healing class, loving my minstrel. He can even solo quite effectively.

As to your system I think your card is being substantially held back by the rest, but upgrading is an expensive biz, i know. It sounds like you would need a full system build for everything but the card! Maybe a late xmas present to yourself...

I hope they've improved customer service by now... it was aweful when I had a go at playing it. They refused to talk to me and credit my account with the extra time that came with the box set.
But it was fun for a bit

That's just when you're on the free trial, to stop gold spammers. Did you honestly think you'd never be able to send someone a tell?

I thought this might be the case, but it's still annoying; playing any mmorpg online is pretty boring without people to chat to tbh.

always had a first class service from Codemasters/Lotro support... for urgent matters i used to send an email direct to Satine from official forums and get a reply real quick.

AoC was the worst service i've ever experienced, it felt they just ignored issues they didn't have a remedy for and it took days and weeks for some matters to be even looked at..

Uni in September so gotta keep the comp 'til then :(

Up to level 17 now in the Laurelin server - I'm having quite a bit of fun and there is so much to do. I do keep getting ahead of myself and getting into some sticky messes tho - I see a fancy weapon as a reward and then get in over my head. Fighting in a fellowship is much more fun than soloing.
