Killzone 2 - Enter The Killzone

The ending, while a cliffhanger was what i would class as a 'proper' cliffhanger. Enough had been said at the end of the game to make you feel like a conclusion of sorts had been reached, but far greater problems loomed on the horizon. Now that the game engine and assets have already been created i hope the sequel will be a bit longer and come much sooner.

Does the story rely on having played Killzone 1 at all? or are they unrelated stories?

do you have to do it on veteran to open elite ?

Don't know tbh, i went straight for veteran just in case. It wasn't all that hard; i suck at console FPS' and i managed it.

It helps to know the back story just to get a feel for the motivations of the characters involved. I'll give you the basics of what i remember:

Earth was overpopulated and the now global govt decided to start colonizing the rest of the galaxy. They prepared a fleet and sent it off with the aim of finding mineral rich planets to increase wealth and inhabitable planets to decrease overcrowding. At this point wealthy companies also began building their own fleets which, upon receiving information of suitable planets, would set up mining operations there.

As the govt fleet reached the first few planets it was hit by an asteroid shower and destroyed. It was at this point one of the wealthiest companies, Helgan corp, stepped forward and offered to send their own fleet out to populate the two 'gateway' planets to the rest of the galaxy, but wanted to gain ownership of them. The government was out of money due to the failure of their own fleet and so agreed, demanding money in return. The helgan reached the two planets, names the first 'Helghan' and set up mining operations there, it was incredibly mineral rich and so they made a fortune. The majority of the populace settled on the second, much more hospitable planet. Eventually, due to being the gateway planets, airspace around them became very busy due to trade, Helghan started taxing this air traffic which annoyed the now recovering government.

After some time the government invaded the nice planet that belonged to the Helgan, kicked all of their people off and stuck them down on Helgan. Over hundreds of years the Helgan people nearly died out due to the harsh environment on their now-homeplanet, but after time they evolved to handle the climate and begun to prosper again. Around this point Scholar Visari was born, a very charismatic man, he united the Helgans under a new banner and new name: The Helghast. He then set about plans to invade the planet that once belonged to them.

The invasion of the Helghasts former home is where the first game begins. You play as Rico, one of the main characters from KZ2, he and a few others who also make appearences fight off the Helghast and save 'their' planet. Killzone 2 begins as the ISA (government army) invade Helghast as a counter attack.

I hate the final bit with Radec, I was raging at it last night, I can get up on to the balcony and lawys seem to die at the last wave of enemies because Rico sucks!

Make sure you set the paintings alight with one of the flamethrowers, this means that as Helghasts are running past it, if you shoot them they fall into the fire and typically set alight. Saves a lot of time and ammo.

Anyone who completes this game on the hardest difficulty is a fps god.
Helghast are like crack troops on Elite. While you team is dying Helghast are camping behind cover and flanking you. I didn't even complete the first level on Elite.

Didn't take me long to get used to the 'heavy' controls, I don't even notice now, not even after playing Resistance 2, then going back to KZ2.
Only up to the Bridge so far, was away at a mate's all weekend and although the game went with me, my save did not!
Will be hammering away at it again tonight!!

That's why I always take them out if I get the chance.

Dissapointed that disarming/planting charges doesn't award points though. :(

Also, is anyone else annoyed that there is no COD style drop your pistol and pick up a weapon to replace?
well i found out today that reviving does give you points, there is just a slight delay in giving them and planting the explosives does give you a point or 2 if they explode, unless the points i got were for just winning the search and destroy part of the game(i planted both explosives and recieved 2 points when the explosives detonated*head swells*), im as yet unsure about defusing but one could reasonably assume that it also gives you a point for your efforts

It seems you do get points for planting/diffusing bombs however they are only awarded if the bomb you planet becomes part of a countdown (ie, another bomb is planted before yours is diffused) or if you diffuse a bomb that is part of a countdown.

Streeteh youve complete it yeah?

*spoilers below*

How the **** did you beat Radec going 1v1 against him? Rico is useless fires at the ground.

Radec is impervious to nades/rockets he just teleports away, moves nearly twice my own speed and kills with one melee hit!!!!

everytime i hit him when im meleeing he just teleports and reappears a ninja second later behind me and BAM im dead. Ps3 controller has the turning circle of an elephant mother of all that is holy....

its seriously starting to annoy me.........

I actually found him quite easy because as soon as it became a 1 on 1 affair i grabbed a shotgun, i didn't die to him at all. Using my surround sound i was able to tell exactly where he was going to come from and one good shotgun blast would make him run away again. I never used rockets, grenades or melee as they were too slow/too risky, keep him at medium distance, if he gets too close you're doomed. All i can suggest is turning up your controller sensitivity as i've got it 2 notches above the default. What difficulty you playing on? I just tried the first level in elite and found it a nightmare so if that's what you're playing on i can't help.

[Non spoiler]

Does the medic have less health than the soldier? I only just unlocked him and am curious as to whether there are any disadvantages to playing as it.
