diet tips

Why not mix it up a bit? This morning I had 2 fried eggs and 2 piece of bacon, followed by bran flakes then a small handfull of blueberries and a small handfull of frozen rasberries, blended up with a bit of water made 3/4 pint of sort of smoothie.

Unless it was 'healthy choice' bacon and you cooked the eggs without the yolk, that's not a very healthy breakfast.

The bacon isn't great, but the eggs are fine; only about 1.5g of saturated fat per egg.

If someone is in the process of losing weight, it would make sense that they probably already have high cholesterol which is why I would personally remove the yolk. For normal folk, they're great and nutritious. IMO.

No carb diets are ok...but the problem is when you go back to eating normally..Most people balloon.

what? of course you would balloon if you eat what you did before, that is kinda obvious...

also, it is as simple as carbs out > carbs in.

Ok..so if thats the situation, do they stay on a near zero carb diet for the rest of their lives?

Did you mean calories?

Ok well i thought id share this plan i got direct from a nutrition specialist who is quite awesome at her job and swears by this diet and excercise plan.

I'm wary of anyone that calls themselves a nutrition specialist / nutritionist - it's a completely non-regulated arbitrary name with no accreditation. I could wake up tomorrow and call myself a nutritionist, hell I've probably done more actual research into diet than most of them.

edit: should have read the whole thread first; Goldacre is a legend.

Seriously, does that slendertone abs belt really works? I fail to see how something viberates on your belly would give you six packs. (or on your arms, by claiming 10 minute session is like doing 200 push ups.)

It works amazingly Because it doesnt vibrate it contracts your abdominal muscles with the help og conductive gel pads and electricity quite quickly in a short space of time every 10 seconds for either 10, 20 or 30 minutes with a range of intensity settings.
Slendertone has been going since the 50's and started off doing work for people that had muscle wasting due to operations or other various reasons but under a different name, when the weight loss craze kicked in they named themselves slendertone and made a bomb BUT unlike a lot of other companys their products actually work with prooven results.

Well this nutrionist was a doctor a few years ago full qualifications and all but since retired and now gives advice for people wanting to diet, loose weight in her spare time. ((unlike 'Dr' Gillian McKeith who has NO credentials what so ever and just reads other peoples material))

thanks for the effort of typing that out bud, but i already have a weekly plan and im loosing weight at a really nice rate aswell as toning myself up, appreciated though.

Don't eat too little or your body may go into survival mode and try to keep hold of as much fat a possible.
It's also generally much easier to lose weight if you eat well AND exercise rather than just cutting down the calories.
Don't be scared of fats, they are very vital to good health.

Check this out, very good ebook regarding fat loss: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/nigel.kinbrum/Ebook.pdf

forgive me, i was thinking carbs and wrote it for some reason!!

anyway, no, you dont stay on 0 carbs for the rest of their lives, they introduce them back into the diet until the weightloss stops. that way you know your level that you can consume.

anybody who is overweight due to eating, that loses the weight through a diet and goes back to eating normal, will put the weight back on.
that is common sense.

dieting (even to an extreme), should be followed by a heathly eating regime / lifestyle to keep the weight off.

hell, even atkins made a point of bringing carbs back in, 2 weeks of 0 carbs only.

BUT unlike a lot of other companys their products actually work with prooven results.

since when?
the only results people have had have been when combined the usage with a better diet and/or an additional exercise routine.

Homeopathy is a $20 billion industry - doesn't mean it works.

Functional Electronic Stimulation (FES) does indeed have a use in rehabilitation, but it's not going to build muscle / lose fat in the way Slendertone would have you believe.
