Car todo lists....

agw_01,

You nutter! :D I bet you've surprised quite a few with that car of yours!

Oh yeah, it was plenty quick with the old turbo... spooled up really quickly so was very responsive! Had a few interesting 'battles' with that thing ;)

New turbo and downpipe should put it somewhere in the region of 230-235bhp. Still need to sort out a few problems before I make use of the power, but from what I've experienced so far, it's going to be good :D

Nice gauges. What did you go for? Oil temp and volts?

Should be a nice improvement! How much did that set you back?

Yeah, voltage and oil pressure, will be getting a boost gauge in the near future to add along side it. Slowly collecting parts for a supercharged 2.0 zetec lump.

How come your engine looks so incredibly dirty, agw_01? Do you have some kind of leak which is covering everything?

I ask as my 1991 E-class' engine bay is totally spotless in comparison! With all those new hoses and shiny bits you should address the cleanliness issue of the rest of it imo :)

Replace indicator stalk as it's shorting out and contantly clicking which is rather annoying. Total cost, £10 :D

Never got round to this, it just stopped doing it, result! :D

Although my car is booked in for:

Service
New tyre (had a blow out on the motorway!)
New radiator as my current is knackered and only holds half the coolent
Aux roller/belt being looked at as it squeeks on idle

A tad more than £10 :(

Jez, nope, no leaks! I think it's one of the only Rovers that doesn't leak :D That's not to say it hasn't leaked etc in the past, probably just a mixture of oil, grime and dirt. I think the camera flash makes it look worse than it actually is.

I agree though, it does need a clean... but I've been a bit pre-occupied with keeping the thing running :o lol

1CE, bit of a funny story really. My parents gave me some money for Christmas which pretty much paid for the turbo (£230). That's not a bad price at all to pay for a good Pulsar T28 with all of the adapters/oil feeds etc.

Anyway, I fitted the turbo a few weeks ago, had it on for less than 24 hours and it died of bearing failure. After posting up pictures of the turbo on another forum, it was mentioned that it had the incorrect oil feed adapter on the turbo so I'm putting the failure down to either oil starvation or that I just got unlucky and the turbo was on its way out anyway.

While the turbo was away to get rebuilt (£190 for a full rebuild with a 360º bearing) I had the car in for its MOT. It failed on a leak on the flexi section of the downpipe. As the downpipe would have be removed to be welded up and that I'd be wanting to fit my new turbo anyway, I went for the larger free-flowing downpipe (£275).

To top that off, I wanted a new actuator aswell so went for the Forge one which cost me £104.

So yeah, not cheap by any stretch of the imagination!

Sunny SR:

Inspect the damn rust bubble that has started to form on the bottom of the rear quarter panel before the wheel arch. It's gone a dark colour so it seems water has teleported in there :(

Wash it, it's been a good few months :D

1. Replace windscreen.
2. Replace clutch.
3. Replace gear linkage bushes.
4. Replace carb for a twin carb
5. Replace point ignition system for electronic ignition.
6. Get it all tuned.
7. Have 90-100HP.
8. Clean it.
9. Drive.

what boost you running through the new turbo now andy?

Still needs adjusting but I will be running 12psi. As standard, the engine runs 11.7psi. The pistons were rated for that and running any higher on the standard turbo is asking for trouble.

With the bigger turbo and intercooler, I could probably run upto 14psi without any trouble but as the engine has a fair few miles on it, I'm happy to leave it at 12.

It'll be plenty fast enough I'm sure!

- Another Remap
- New front discs, mine don't get along with my pads
- Better set of proper porsche braided front lines
- Sort a few paint issues
- Finish FMIC pipework

1) Get it serviced
2) Get it cleaned properly (inside and out, there's some stains in the boot)
3) Get the rear windscreen wiper arm fitted - had it sitting here for ages but I don't have the tools necessary to do it properly
4) Get a better headunit at some point, something that plays MP3s
5) Fix or replace rear bumper - cracked the top of it when I reversed into a parked Volvo the other week :(

-Brake Pads
-Resolve judder most likely suspension issue
-Trace coolant leak and fix
-Replace all 6 speakers (heavy metal does not go down well with speakers that have been playing classic fm for the past 14yrs :o )
-Clean it!!
-Get rear left alloy refurbed
-Sort out the rust on the front passenger door and rear right of the boot lip
-Resolve random ignition times (some days instant, most days 15s+ of cranking, crank speed is fine so not battery)
-See if there is a problem/fix as to why the LPG conversion artificially limits the car to 4/4.5k RPM
-Replace drivers carpet trim (1st owner wore through it, minor niggle since its under a mat)

Finally fitted my splitter today, oh and my brother had the blue intake cover lying around so we fitted that as well.

Thoughts? :)

Type R - facelift 04.

Need to replace the black plastic strips each side of front windscreen. Their loose and a broken clip.
Replace driver side mirro (jakey chav cracked it)
Remove nasty induction kit that it came with.
Mod Standard airbox for better airflow.
Refit oem airbox I have bought here.
Get handbrake adjusted.
Fit HID's
Change number plates as cracked and remove nasty suzuki garage sticker from back window.

suits it down to the ground (almost literally) mods that blend in that well are always the best

hehe thanks!
I have to be careful now though. When parking say at the shops round the corner the front bumper used to miss the kerb by about 2mm....it'll tear the splitte straight off if I do it like I normally do lol. :)
