Went to draw out £10 today, and got the "Only £20 notes available" message.

Pressed the button for £20 and low and behold.. 2x £10 notes

What is the point in this? I hardly ever see machines that draw out £10 any more, and those giving out £5 notes are even harder to find.

Bah..

use the other amount.

You were going to withdraw £10, but because of the note you took out £20. If you have £20 in your pocket you're more likely to spend more than if you have £10 in your pocket. You thus get further in to debt - which is good for them.

Has nothing to do with the economic climate, it's been like this for years.

I have no debt, either. Just needed to withdraw £10 :p

Its a conspiracy! Make sure to wrap your cards in tin foil!

No way! I've been doing it wrong all this time!?! I sandwich my cards between 2 slices of Hovis. Seems to work for me - I never have trouble withdrawing £5 notes.

Could it not be something more innocent like they have different drawers for £20 and £10 and they decided to fill them both with £10. And the £10 one has just ran out of money.

But wouldn't the ATM then dispense a tenner when you asked for £20? :o

Made me lol :D
