2nd harddrive

Help; Fresh XP install (Packard Bell)

Hello,

I have a friends harddrive that i have just formatted and installed xp.
It has xp on and is working fine in my machine which is the one i installed in on but today when i went to put it back in his it wouldnt boot, it just keep restarting.
So when the windows page come up i attempted to get into safe mode but it jsut stalled me at; ' multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\agp440.sys

Any help on how to get this booting into xp would be great.

If you are really worried, disconnect your current hard drive, plug your friends one in and use the windows CD to format it.

You can't install Windows on a disk in one machine and then hope to get it to boot in a completely different one, the driver setup needs to be matched to the hardware. You'll need to reinstall XP using your friend's PC.

maybe, but i'd still just do a proper format and start over, don't want any ghosts in the machine

this might work, but i wouldn't recommend it

put it back into your machine.

uninstall all drivers, then reboot

now run this..

to remove all driver traces

put it into your mates machine, install drivers.
