Steam UT3 Update + Free Weekend

Mine won't run through steam for some reason, I have to navigate to the installed folder and run the game executable. I also own the retail but can't add the key to steam since it thinks I already own it.

For those of you who have the DVD, move your installed UT3 draw to the steamapps \common\ draw then activate. it may tell you that you already own the game, then just down load free weekend black edition & it will say 20% installed it will clime fast as you already have it installed.

Yeah, I've done exactly that, but it won't allow me to enter my cd-key, at least until the trial is over. Steam says 'this game is currently unavilable, please try again at another time'. I know it works because launching it manually works ok, though not sure what key it's using since I haven't tried online.

I installed patch 2 and titan pack manually.

I installed the game from DVD, patched it & titan pack manually. ran it, used the keycode like normal. Moved it to Steamapps/common then install the steam version over the top which is quick & it will show up in your steam games & run like normal steam games, but a new key that it gives you will need to be activated after the free trail.

finaly downloaded it and now it dont ask for cd key :( i cant connect to any servers just says connection failed...

Only 6 servers? what game modes are you trying to play cos when i search vctf, greed or betrayal i find lots of servers. Not tried Warfare or DM over this weekend but there has always been for servers for them than the latter 3

Activated my retail key no probs but had the same error. Turned out I needed to mark all the ut3 directory as read only since I forgot to when I copied it across.
 
Is this worth buying at £8.49? I played it a fair bit a year or so ago and really enjoyed it, but was, ahem, 'limited' to the single player mode.
 
Yeah, I paid £18 odd when it was new, and have much enjoyed it, though not many people were ever online. Now though, there are many more.
 
Problem with Steam now days is that the games are getting so BIG (10GB+) that its not long before your monthly bandwidth allowance is gone..:(

Then go with an ISP that doesn't limit you. ISPs wouldn't get away with these draconian rules if people wouldn't let them.

I know Pixel has effectively just said this, but if you have a package from your ISP limiting you to anywhere near 10GB a month, I would be dropping them faster than you can say "get a decent ISP/package!".

Im with talktalk's 40Gb standard package, but like i said, with games now 10Gb and upwards, it dosent leave much left after a couple of game downloads...
 
can anyone connect to anyones campaign game??? people join mine almost straight away (apart from when i try it in 'insane' mode) i dont have a router or anything to confuse things, just direct modem to pc connection so cant understand since i have tryed to join MANY games :( all other game modes work perfect though, i like the new 'betrayal' and 'greed' modes :D and the 'juggernaut' titan mutator mod
 
I find it pretty ironic that caps have started to come into force from many ISPs over the past few years just as a 'genuine need' for lots of bandwidth has taken off (digital download games, iplayer/4od/skyplayer etc). 5 years ago before caps started to take hold, the vast majority of people using 40GB+ were doing something dodgy.

Of course, to an ISP it doesn't really matter what you are using the bandwidth for, as it costs them the same regardless.
