F1 2009 Season discussion/development thread

Also, a closer look at those sculpted sidepods on the Brawn GP 1 http://www.f1today.nl/fotos/9jpxalev11.jpg

It's also fastest so far, hopefully they have a competetive package and can fight for "best of the rest".

Got a link about that fasted so far bit?

I do like the look of the Brawn car. Those mirror supports are ugly but look like they serve a little purpose. Also little fins on the nosecone too. I don't think I;ve seen little details such as those on the other cars, but maybe I'm blinded by fanboyism :p

Current standings in testing:

1 J. Trulli Toyota TF109 01:22.3
2 J. Button Brawn GP BGP 001 01:22.4 +0.073
3 N. Piquet Jr. Renault R29 01:23.5 +1.194
4 A. Sutil Force India VJM-02 01:24.0 +1.615
5 M. Webber Red Bull Racing RB5 01:24.0 +1.62
6 S. Bourdais Toro Rosso STR4 01:24.0 +1.635
7 K. Nakajima Williams FW31 01:24.0 +1.665
8 K. Räikkönen Ferrari F60 01:24.6 +2.299
9 H. Kovalainen McLaren MP4-24 01:25.2 +2.826

Brawn GP doing really well in testing, which is quite surprising. Are McLaren and Ferrari both sandbagging here?

They were all on 1:24.xxx for a while with Heikki up top and JB 2nd. I'd say McLaren and Ferrari haven't come back out since those times. Conditions may have improved for a .22 time.

This could be the case. But would it be worth harming their testing by not testing with a brimmed tank (which changes car and tyre characteristics). Plus, you could say that the other back of the grid teams are doing the same, so when you meet in the middle, all the teams would be mostly on the same level.

But as we say, wait till Melbourne!

McLaren have done more laps than any other team and are still at the bottom of the sheets. I know they will improve but are they THAT confident that they can afford to not push the car?

Lots of content including this little titbit on what coverage we can expect

WIN

The BBC, they lie!

David Coulthard joins the BBC as a Formula One pundit after a 16-year career as a Grand Prix driver in which he won 13 races and finished a best of second in the world championship to Michael Schumacher in 2002.

Coulthard came 5th in the 2002 championship. They mean 2001.

Bloody hell, the team has been about for a week and it allready has fanboys that dont want anything bad said about it.

He is probably speaking the truth though regradless if he hates them or not.

In the particular quote I used, yes, more than likely. The rest of his posting seems to be rather negative towards the team however. Is there something wrong with having a little optimism for the underdog?
