I Can Haz Achievements? - Achievements on the Xbox 360

I have this bizarre urge to get as many of the achievements no matter how bizarre up to the highest level and have this bizarre sense of amount of achievements equals finishing the game, rather than just finishing the story.

check out 360voice.com

theres definitely something that achievements have over the trophies.

i thought trophies would add more to my ps3 gaming as achievements did to the 360. just don't care about them though

Actually even after all this time that the 360 has been out, I still find it to be the overwhelming factor (along with the pad) between deciding to get the PS3 version or a 360 version of a game.

all my multi-format games are bought on 360 for the same reason

(PS, you know where your hooked on Achievements, when you hear the achievement sound randomly, when your no where near a 360!)

so true :D

I get most game achievements by just playing the game straight forward, I think only certain games like Mass effect and Fallout 3 require work towards getting some of the achievements.

Although blowing up someone's pants in Fallout 3 is quite fun.

I think the trophy notification for the PS3 needs to be more prominent, it's quite small compared to the 360 version so it doesn't feel as grand when you unlock one.

I have just managed to go from 46k to 65k in around a month and a bit.

I have played some rubbish games, that i didn't enjoy at all. I Have now got halo wars, and i had forgotten what on line play is all about with friends. Ive given up now on gamer score, it is pointless. I am still gonna play some easy games for points, but no where near the extent i used!

Im not going to buy/rent crappy games just for gamerscore, but I will try and get a good score out of the games that I do buy.

Haha, yep I was like this. CoD4 Mile High Club achievement made me realise it's just not worth spending hours trying to get a few extra points!

i've just got 3 achievements in the past week on Crackdown, first time i've played it since o7. only 1 more green orb and 2 more blue orbs to get for another 2 achievements.;)

yes indeed, genius.

I'm one agility orb short too, though I can't find it for the life of me. I've spent hours jumping around the cities trying to find it. :(

I loved Crackdown for achievements... the Orbs were awesome to try and find, i norm hate find this and that - but its so easy and quick to move about i didn't mind - same with Superman... i like breaking the sound barrier!

Good side - They add so much more to games.

Bad Side - You may get addicted and just end up buying rubbish games just to get an extra 1000 points. (I'm so ashamed. lol I can't help it.) :(

Bah, if a game is rubbish but only costs a couple of quid and I get to gain an extra 1000 points I'm there. :D

Well probably the easiest acheivements game I've played through is Lost - not a great game but as a huge Lost fan I can justify it - not sinked to the depths of Avatar just yet!

On a sidenote - are pc xbox live enabled games acheivements tied to one account via the cd key or anything? My bro has a couple of games I'd quite like to borrow.

had to re-enable the gangs so i could get the Confiscator achievement and in so doing the statue at the top left of the map was re-built and i found an orb between it's legs.

some of the others i found while looking for gang cars.

don't know if they have increased the sound of the orbs, but i'm sure they are louder and i'd swear some of the recent one's i've found were in places i had already been (like on top of the stadium).

Confiscator, is that the impounding one?
Statue?

Strangely I hear an orb sound while standing on a beach, on the sand, with nothing around me. When I move towards the rocks the sound goes away, glitch?

yes, Confiscator = impound gang cars.

the statue is up towards the lighthouse, on your map it's beside the 1st supply point south of lighthouse. it disappears when you beat the muertos boss (it did for me).

there are a few orbs under the sand at the west side of the lower left island. you go under via an entrance in the rock in that area.

I don't think they're tied to a Live account, (i.e. you can sign in and out at will).

However Dawn of War II (Windows Live, but requires Steam) is tied to your steam account.

Great idea that adds replay value to games you'd likely otherwise put down after completing.

I wouldn't buy/rent a game purely for points, but I certainly would play through a 2nd time to gain as many as possible!
