**** happens. I've had my phone stolen off me at point blank with a sawn off shotgun. Next day I was on the same road walking to school.

If i get killed by a gang, so be it.

I've had a knife held up to me 3 times i belive, on the last time my best friend at the time's brother got slashed in the head 3 times - went to court for that one.

The guys that did it tried to say we were being racist, we werent they randomly jumped us. They got something stupid like a months community service :S?

Simply put, I'm just curious how, when, and even if you think things will get better.

When Labour admit they have failed miserably on law and order and in the time they have left before they are turfed out, start introducing sentences that act as a deterrent and not a stage for such miscreants to stick a finger up at the system when they leave court with a laughable sentence.

Couple that with increased capacity within HMP Service and you may have a good start.

UK youth culture is horrific these days...Its so much worse now than it was when i was a teen in the mid 90s..

Knife crime and Youth culture in Britain...

The reason I will leave this country when I can comfortably afford to.

It really is amazing to feel completely and utterly safe wherever you go....Im really not looking forward to going back to the UK where i have to be on my guard every second im out of the house.

I feel really sorry for the OP and can completely understand where he's coming from....but I also can't help smiling at the irony of him being labelled a "thug" because of his post count.

Because I bet its really made an impact on your life?

The whole dam thing - From the culture itself, to the medias attiude and reporting, is all just a load of mouth 99% of the time.

True. Maybe try not living in bad ass town or city and its easy.

Half the people moaning about it live in nice, middle class places. I currently live next to Easton/St Pauls in Bristol, a pretty nasty area according to a lot of people. Dont assume things. I have had more issues with people in small out of the way towns than in major cities, with a few exceptions. The nasty areas arent what you want to watch out for imo, its the little kids from the sticks who feel they have something to prove.

Whilst I don't agree with some of the 'laughable' sentances given out to some knife crime criminals, it isn't just increased sentancing that will solve the problem. I know it sound very liberal hippy (Which I assure you isn't my usual stance) but you need to tackle these problems MUCH MUCH sooner than the courts.. This isn't a culture rising out of pathetic sentancing and you can be damn sure it's not going to go away with harsher sentancing.
