So who#s going to replace their Motherboard and HDD's for SATA 600?

I wonder how many people here on the forums are even getting close to what SATA 2 has to offer. And we are the enlightened ones (well generally and myself not included :p). So I doubt there will be a rush to this when it eventually hits.

With the next gen of SSD and potential speeds, then this might come in useful. In a few years . . . . when we can afford it!

Well since SATAII gives 3Gbits per channel and not the overall total bandwidth for all devices....

Who owns a single drive that can transfer more than 300mb a second...

Exactly, NOBODY!

(Note for stupid people, RAID0 is using more than 1 drive and hence more than 1 channel)...

You are right to an extent, however you fail to take heed of certain facts.

Some RAID implementations use a host-bus connection running at the same speed as the drive's transfer rate (specifically cheaper add-on cards) which can therefore max themselves out (as they are often implemented on PCIe x1).

More importantly though, port multipliers run from the same channel. In this situation, a RAID will sit beneath the bottleneck of the one channel. So in fact it can be quite easy to hit the limit now, especially with the advent of SSDs.

Next time, avoid saying 'stupid people', unless you give a full account/consideration of the facts.
