Wrong. DPD are more expensive for us than City-Link and DHL.

Well that surprises me. I'm going back a few years now of course, but DPD were considerably cheaper when dealing with International consignments. I thought it would have been much the same for local distribution too. I think you're a brave man offering free shipping and having to spend more in this climate.

yup, i thought DHL were brilliant, always delivered by 2pm at the latest and the one time i missed a delivery the guy left it with one of my neighbors (instead of doing what ever other company i've used does which is to card me with a blank card ) and put a card through my door clearly marked with the name and address of the neighbor, perfect to be honest.
£56,000 worth of claims since October would suggest otherwise.

Never had problems before when I ordered things from OcUK but ordered a router recently which wasn't delivered, something about wrong address and they sent it back to OcUK. Spoke to a guy who did sort it out and got it sent out again but rather annoying as I needed that router quite quickly as well!

On what volume of delivery though? Claim on lost parcels?

From July/August you'll be able to book a 1 hour delivery window.

Well that's good :)

BTW I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just providing honest feedback which I know you will welcome. I've always has excellent service from OcUK.

oh good, moving from 2 companies (citylink and DHL) which were perfect (in mine, and certainly many other peoples eyes) to a much smaller company which doubtless many people have never had deliveries from before (i've never even heard of them OR seen vans about).
I've never heard of DPD either, but they're the UK arm of one of the largest delivery companies in the world, La Poste.

i think the fact that the opening sentence begins with 'yup, i thought' would suggest i was coming from personal experience rather than the whole, anyway, i wont stand here and sling mud, i'm sure i'll make my decision based upon what they are like on payday.

They were awarded the contract without you knowing where the depots were?
One would have thought cost to the company, time to pick up, reliability, speed of delivery, cost to consumer, accuracy and a whole host of other business decisions where more important then whether or not the local depot is two minutes from your house.

They were awarded the contract based on many things, not least of which was our and our suppliers personal experience. Depot location isn't critical. Reliability and integrity of delivery is.

Judging by peoples decision in this thread to not use a company whose courier doesn't have a local depot I wouldn't be so sure.

Exactly. Unless of course the courier is unreliable. That's what we are moving away from.
