another slightly more polite way that is apparently used commonly on mainland europe is to indicate that you wish to overtake (ie right indicator whilst behind the slower car)
but i doubt that would work over here as 85% of cars on the road are driven by people who are still asleep

) and undertake streams of middle lane drivers, pulling out to overtake a lorry and pulling back in again to continue undertaking.
I didn't actually realise people purposely did this, I thought that they were just asleep.
Cue me slamming on the brakes and beeping like crazy, no where to go in the middle lane so have to swerve under him on the hard shoulder. He gets up to speed, gets in the middle lane and comes past me giving me the closed fist handshake sign!
