So much angst. So much hate generally. It's a sad state of affairs. 
As long as you dont change lanes to undertake, then pull back out to the lane you were in it isnt undertaking and is totally legal. On the M1/M25 i regularly sit in the nearside lane at about 60 (slow moving traffic, not driving slowly for the sake of it
) and undertake streams of middle lane drivers, pulling out to overtake a lorry and pulling back in again to continue undertaking.As i say thats totally legal, as long as you arent changing lanes to initiate the undertake. If that lane is moving slower than yours, you can zip down the inside fair enough.

No it's because fogs illuminate the area in front of the bumper which, coupled with an Nvidia human brain accelerator card with LightningFastReactions(tm) technology, gives boy racers the ability to dodge pot holes, pheasants and foxes at the very last available moment.
At least that's what a couple folks on here over the years have claimed to be the reason why they use their fogs illegally
I witnessed some moments of sheer and utter hilarity this week, when pulling out of a junction and a car coming from the right decides she needs to park, but there is someone already there, so thinks that it would be ok to park with almost the entire of her car across the junction.
Needless to say a heated debate ensued which involved phrases such as "do you kiss your mother with such a dirty mouth" and "for **** sake you silly ******* **** just move your piece of **** car or I'll report you for blocking the highway" She was insistant she could park where she liked as it "was only 5 minutes"
Ahh, the old middle lane club. Im afraid to say that if Im already in the inside lane and going faster, I undertake with a healthy blast on the horn, which sometimes wakes them up, or sometimes makes them swerve wildly. The latest craze however is for the "speed police" brigade to use their car to prevent anyone else going faster than they are by sitting at 65 in the outside lane and refusing to budge for anyone despite best efforts. I noticed this twice today coming back from London, where the general rule of thumb is that if you aren't driving like a **** you are a ****.

There's two choices really, either allow idiots to hold you up for possibly a good proportion of the rest of your journey, or do something about it. Two wrong may not make a right, but I end up travelling at the speed I feel comfortable at, not at what other drivers dictate I should.
If I'm moving fast enough to overtake the traffic on the outside lane in reasonable time then I'm not moving over. If there's nothing to overtake then I'll obviously move over. I don't care how impatient the guy behind me is, I'm not doing any manoeuvres based on what's directly behind me unless it has flashing blue lights.
The speed is irrelevant so long as you're overtaking traffic imho, you've got to be creating more hazards than you're reducing by switching lanes because some douche wants you to move over, only to move back over yourself once you've caught up to the car infront a few seconds later.

I didn't actually realise people purposely did this, I thought that they were just asleep.If there is a gap big enough for you to pull back into, ******* pull in, as at that moment in time you're NOT overtaking, and you ARE impeding somebody else's ability to make progress. You have no right to dictate what speed they should travel at, if they want to go faster than you, get out of the ******* way, then pull out after they have gone past you, even if it IS only 15 seconds (which is a third of a mile at 70mph surely that's a big enough gap to get into and back out of with no issues).
I don't sit their flashing or sitting up their arse, but it's damn obvious that i want to be going faster than they are, I don't get your mentality, it's just bloody lazy.
Its nigh time we introduced different levels of license, especially for vans, every single day it seems there is a serious accident involving a van, there was a flipped van on one of the motorways today, how the **** do you do that.
Im with Tom tho, if there is a gap on the inside, move the **** over, Zombie, you have the cheek to call others a Douche, when its poorly skilled drivers such as yourself, clogging up this nations fine motorways.

Pootling along the inside lane of the motorway the other week at about 60'ish (only about a couple of miles or so from my junction on the M62) with people cruising past me at 70 in the middle, see some blue flashing lights on the hard shoulder further up and can see they have stopped someone. Get a bit closer and the retard has got back in his car and instead of building up speed on the hard shoulder and pulling out decides to re-enter the carriageway at about 5mph!! 
Cue me slamming on the brakes and beeping like crazy, no where to go in the middle lane so have to swerve under him on the hard shoulder. He gets up to speed, gets in the middle lane and comes past me giving me the closed fist handshake sign!
Tool! Glad to say that the coppers also noticed his driving, raced up the hard should and pulled alongside me, pointed at said driver and gave the closed fist hand shake sign about him, then proceeded to pull him again a bit further up the m'way! Couple of paps on the horn as i passed made me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

Driving instructors need to teach learners about merge-in-turn etc. My sister has been taking lessons for a year now and doesn't know what merging is ffs. When I was learning mine never told me either and that guy has been teaching for more years than I have been alive.
Road safety is their priority I understand but making the roads a more efficient place should also be up in their teaching list!

merge in turn - using the 2nd lane as long as you can does not make the traffic go any faster, the single lane is the bottleneck.
Fogs - why are they illegal? They can't dazzle drivers, they're pointed at the tarmac - ban stupidly bright (or badly installed) xenons instead. they destroy night vision for everyone around you.

Don't presume to know my driving well enough to assume I need a slap. I don't sit there with a stop watch measuring the time, it could be considerably less, I'm just using example scenarios.
Besides I'm talking about drivers who drive right up your arse and then start flashing their lights the very moment you get passed the last car. It's not on. I'm not going to move over because the impatient sod behind me is up my arse and flashing his lights. If I shouldn't dictate his speed then why should he dictate how I drive through his aggressive behaviour?
I just want to clarify here I don't hog the inside lane, I use it appropriately, you just get too many morons who thinks it's ok to tailgate just because you're not going fast enough for them, despite you overtaking traffic.
Just for further clarification, lets say that 15 seconds I mentioned earlier was a literal number. It's not that huge a time but if it looked like a big gap that was going to take me significant time to fill then I'd move over. I'm not going to be a moron about it. But say I've been sailing past traffic for a couple of mins, the whole time with the guy behind me up my arse who then proceeds to flash me the very moment I pass the last car. Should I do him a favour and move over because he's up my arse and he's flashing his lights or should I not do him any favours and keep doing what I'm doing for another 15 seconds?
When I change lanes I do it when I'm ready and not because I'm being pressured by some impatient ***** behind who's trying to make me move over. That's not to say I hog the lane, I just want to move over when I'm ready and it's safe.
If you re-read you can see my posts are centred around annoyance with the type people who sit right up your arse when you're using the lane appropriately and then flash their lights the moment you get past the last car. I don't see how you can sit there and say I'm the one with poor driving skills when it's the guy directly behind me who's needlessly creating the hazard.

Not using the 2nd lane and causing a jam at a previous junction however does make traffic slower. Further, if other people don't know how to drive then that is their problem - I am still going to use the 2nd lane and merge in where I am supposed to merge in.
People blocking the road or endless streams of people refusing to let someone in is vigilantism at it's best - misplaced, ill-informed and illegal.
becaues they are illegal to use if there is no fog its just that speed cameras dont capture muppets using them so nothing ever gets done.... and yes they do dazzle drivers other wise there wouldnt be countless threads on the subject

The front ones really don't. The rear fogs are annoying though.
theres only a non existant gap if the people in lane 1 get all british and dont let people merge
highway code says people should merge in turn. If you see a car comming down in lane 2, you should prepare to move back to them in.
But people dont, they get all british and drive as close as possible to car in front, to prevent them "que jumping"
The people in lane 1 are in the wrong, not lane 2.
