Smokers. How do you cope?

. Smoking gives you a high from nicotine?, you dont start smoking with the intent to get high from nicotine your just kidding yourself

I can see what uv meant, and he was correct with regards to smoking tobacco.

Nicotine is a stimulant and causes your body to release many chemicals which effectivley give you a little 'high', if you can call it that.

Of course, no one would ever smoke with the intention of getting 'high' :)

lol, tbh it sounds like you had just been born ?

sore eyes.....huh....hungover.....hedaches...(maybe) never heard of a couple of them before,

maybe your alergic to smoke ?

You purely do it for social issues to either look cool or have something to do.

i started smoking because of the first reason, which i know ofcousre isnt true now, and i still smoke because of the 2nd reason, tried to stop but it just doesnt happen, i went over a week without one but as soon as i had the chance to have one i had it, gonna buy some of them nicorette inhalers, i have cut down to about 3 a day, But i only have them late at night, i can go the whole day without one **** easy, dunno why

They all smoke in the living room (next door to my room) with the windows shut. Is this out of order, or is it just me who thinks so? Surely they can smoke in their own rooms / outside?

i agree with you, even though i smoked 15 per day for like 3 years i didnt like smoking inside, it isnt the smell as much as the tingling in the nose etc...

my usual routine (if i didnt go on the balcony) was to stand in the kitchen with the window open, and the door closed, or at night time when everyone is asleep, completely lean out of the window. To me fresh air + smoke was far superior to indoors + smoke with closed window.

now, add 3-4 people in the room, all smoking, i hated that massively, in a pub you got used to it, and wasnt too bad, but my house and most others dont have good ventilation, so its just nasty!

The way i stopped smoking was doing 2 things..

Eating a Cig while its light. then at the same time with another one which is being used put that up your bum

has to be at the same time or else it wont work.

Firstly you dont have to smoke weed with TOBACCO, you need to know what your talking about.

I know what I'm talking about.

Smoking weed without tobacco is incredibly harsh, and will take affect way too quickly. You could take it through other means that don't involve tobacco, but then you wouldn't be smoking!

How can you argue that nicotine doesn't give you a high? I've been smoking for years, and yet the cigarette I just had has given me a slight high. The first time I smoked I almost passed out due to the nicotine rush.

Sure, I smoke to feed my addiction to nicotine, but the calm I have after smoking is still a nicotine high.

Nicotine gives a bit of a buzz, but generally only the 1st of the day, or if its been a few hours.

Do what now?

I'm a smoker, I know it gives me a nicotine rush. I can tell because.. I smoke!

I just had another cigarette, and I can feel the effect of the nicotine.. I guess I must be lying though, because I'm on the internets

You got a rush from a cigarette...ok well thats probably down to a few things

You have just started smoking,
You don't smoke much
or your talking out of crack.

I know when i need a cigarette and if its been a few hours i'll get a bit of a buzz for a moment or two, but thats it.

Don't believe that for a second manic, it was your choice you live with them

Believe what you will matey! I'm not having a go at anyone here, just saying that in my personal opinion it's not particularly conscientious. Was just interested in whether smokers saw it in the same way as me or not.

I'm moving out at the end of the month, so am not trying to bitch (too much), I was just interested on how smokers see the etiquette of smoking. Obviously there are considerable differences of opinion :D

i would say your options are...

1. Make some friends
2. Ask them to stop
3. Ask to move swap rooms
4. Live with it
5. Start smoking

Fair point, and like I've said; I'm dealing with it and moving out. I've discussed my reasons with them and it's been decided that that's the best way.

Not sure how making more friends would help me though?

I absolutely hate it.

Unfortunately my girlfriend smokes, although she wants to stop, she wants to do it by herself, rather then because im asking her to stop (which i've done quite a lot!)

We are in a LDR so I havent seen her for a while..im hoping next time I see her, next month I think, she would have stopped!!

nope, nope and nope.

do you smoke Silk Cut silver or something?

I used to think I wouldn't go out with someone who smokes but I do.

She only smokes outside though so it's not getting all blown all over me.

She wants to pack up but like most smokers is weak willed and full of excuses lol.

I quit by removing myself from the situations where I would normally smoke - i.e. I stopped DJing - stopped getting drunk and stopped going out. It worked tho.

I smoked 10 a day for about 7 years and even when i didn't have any for a few days, if someone is smoking in the same room as me, it makes my eyes water and gives me a tingling, itchy throat and it feels like someone holding a bottle of ammonia under my nose.

lol @ the people telling UVMain how he feels when he has a ciggarrette. Some people on here need to get a grip.

Referring back to my original post in this thread; Nictone = drug = stimulant.

You still get a slight rush when you smoke a cig, if you are a first time smoker or it's the first of the day after a 10 year habbit.
