For people that are concerned about missing there delivery DPD will drop a card off for you. Card B http://www.dpd.co.uk/shipping/arrange_re-delivery.htm

You have four options available to you :-

1) Upgrade delivery - You can contact DPD and up grade to a premium servive i.e AM service or Saturday service.

2) Change Delivery - You can change the delivery address for your order so it goes to an alternative address.

3) Collect From Depot - As it says you can arrange to collect form your local depot

4) Leave in A Safe Place - As it says you can arrange to have left in your porch, garage or shed or with a neighbour.

Also all DPD drivers are tracked by GPS so if theysay they are going to be there they will be.

just took delivery. very friendly guy (gave me my post out the porch door and a yellow pages from outside too, lol) no problems here :)

Had the unfortunate pleasure of using DPD in the past a good half dozen times and of these only 1 went without issue
The issues were that they lied about carding my house, ,didn't even bother knocking before carding, damaged goods from poor handling and generally really poor service and attitude when I was politely inquiring where my parcels were
I avoid DPD like the plague now and would rather pay more from somewhere else then have to deal with these idiots
Never had issues like this with any other courier before and find Citylink to be the best, I can almost set my watch by them and the driver is a really nice friendly chap that actually cares about his job.

I noticed that a few days ago I was able to get a shipping price for Cyprus when adding items in the basket (even monitors). This has changed since yesterday.

Does the new courier still ship to Cyprus? Is there a limit on the weight?

Thanks.

Shipping is rediculously expensive for Malta now :(. DHL was good while it lasted, a friend of mine got a router and it arrived next day.
It's in hand. Looks like we may reinstate DHL International soon. We never had a problem with their International service which is seperate to their UK division. Apart from the small matter of being overcharged £50K since October, but they have accepted responsibility and are resolving soon.

This will mean cheaper shipping options for Malta, Cyprus and Gibraltar.

Seems there will never be a perfect shipping solution... but it's good that you're willing to keep trying until you find the right one.

The problem of "carding" though is something universal to all courier companies and is more to do with the attitude of the drivers than anything else. I say replace all human drivers with GPS-assisted robots as soon as tech becomes available and 80% of the complaints will cease. :p

I seen a DPD van up on campus ealier today so now I know they do exist. :)

When I actually have money again Ill see if anything takes my fancy and try them out. :)

my parents used dhl recently to ship to cyprus. Was there next day :) Quicker than royal mail! :P

Althought DHL direct said they couldnt deliver to cyprus, it was through a third party.. who used dhl. O.o

I had a customer today that missed the DPD delivery, they phoned the number on the card that was left and within 10 minutes the driver was back and delivered the customer system, Its so nice having customer call in and telling us what good service their getting from DPD :)

I think the key point with couriers is that this years best courier may not be next years best courier so suppliers have to monitor and change as required. I'd rather that than have a supplier stick with a courier that's definitely underperforming.

Several suppliers I've used have gone full circle with couriers over a number of years!

We had an urgent order at work the week before last - Friday ordered pre 10.30 delivery from Belgium/Holland at a cost of £45 + VAT, contacted purchasing mid day to say we hadn't received - checked tracking number with UPS and apparently we had been carded at 7.20 am!

I have also experienced having 2 UPS deliveries at the same time from the same depot and a second City Link driver arriving to collect our standing order that had already been collected.

Also I have also had problems with contract drivers with City Link regarding our standing order, has a driver turn up at 4.20 - stated collection time is 17:30 - 18:00, has been the same for 10 years, although they are sometimes later than this. Driver said he wouldn't wait until 17:30, let him drive away, gave it 15 minutes and called the depot to send him back.

Also noticed one day that there were 2 cardboard boxes by our fire escape gate when I arrived at 8:15, I thought that they were rubbish as the cleaner had been tidying the car park, turned out they were 2 consoles from an online retailer. POD said left under camera - great leave it under the camera's blind spot!

Have had bad experiences last year with DPD. Not sure whether they've improved since then - let's hope so.

I'm surprised that Swindon isn't better served in terms of a local depot. There are plenty of companies based here (Intel, BMW, Honda, Motorola, Nationwide, Alcatel, W H Smith, Zurich, RWE/npower, National Trust, etc...) plus a population in excess of 150,000. Not sure if my order would be handled by Reading or Bristol - both are inconvenient. :(

Delivery to work isn't always an option and my holidays are better spent than waiting for a delivery ;)
