Police brutality backfires!

The police clearly have him pinned down. One of them is kneeling on one of his right arm, the other is the opposite side and there is one on his back/legs. You don't get up from the ground with people putting their weight on your limbs.

The guy was going NO WHERE when the popo near his head decided to start having some digs at the top of his body. I doubt it was in the arm tbh.

Brutality from the police, yes - shameless mob mentality idiocy inspired by football hooliganism, yes.

that guy is obviously fighting back if you look carefully. those officers had every right to get him in control.

people seem to forget this is how the police operate over in the like of spain and portugal. violence is a must to control people. guess what, it works.

So a cop hits someone with a baton a few times, and in return has a thousand football fans kicking him all over. You can see when there is a gap in the crowd that the policeman is motionless - unconscious.

How is that a good thing? Granted it can be argued that he used excessive force, but I can't understand how some people think that the retaliation was fair, just and cool.
:(

If you're going to quote me don't Oi, read the rules or get gone. Gilly.. Read the first part of my sentence that states the crowed were wrong.

The guy was clearly resisting the attempts of the police to restrain him and so they had every right to use force, its up to them how much they use cause its there lives they put at risk everyday

No, it's not up to them how much they use. There are rules and laws which govern the amount of force they are allowed to employ (though these might be somewhat lax in places like Portugal).

But her parents killed her ?

But there's no evidence that they did. So...

The police just haven't found her body yet or any more evidence.

OK, I can play that game.

Aliens abducted her for nefarious anal experiments. The police just haven't found her body yet or any more evidence.

See how much fun we can have with this?

There is no way you can clearly see what position the person is in, no way at all.

We could see from the way he was brought down to the ground, the angle of his body, and the position of his feet. He appeared to be face down and utterly immobile.

The angle of the body and the angle of the baton did not in any way suggest that his arm was the target. Indeed, why would it be? We had already seen him pinned down, and his limbs immobilised.

Whilst I almost agree with the way the spanish/portugese police deal with their business (Britain was the same twenty five years ago); they have four of them on him - leaning on his limbs.

He might have been struggling but that's all, no need to bash his head/whatever in whilst he has no way of defending himself.

They killed her, there just horrible people, I'd actually argue the case that they killed her of they popped over for a cup of tea.

Just the Media were all on side ;) thats whats helped the case so much.

oooo Aliens ! like ET ? :(
He's nice ! :)

i posted having in mind this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlrcoagUggs , Greek policemen dreesed up as civilians kick the crap out of a student for no reason...as you can see he was just passing by. He spent 3 months in hospital , happened just where i live...

official announcement by the police , he fell over the pavement by himself...would like to see a "portuguese" reaction to this

guys the wrong cop got the beating... The bald dude was the one that seem to stop the guy with the baton but he got the kicking...

The cop with the baton took off like a rocket

You can see his right arm is free at 0.21, he is clearly struggling.

It clearly was not his arm they were hitting

You know this how?

Having someone pinned down is useless. You need them in handcuffs to move them. Getting someone who is struggling into cuffs is not only non-trivial but if only one hand is in them it becomes a dangerous weapon.

I think someone should show that clip to some of the local British plods and ask them if they think the behaviour of the Portuguese police is entirely warranted.

I don't think you'd hear many claiming that it was a "standard tactic".

I think you'll find you are wrong, but I'll wait for Von Smallausen to back me up.

Honestly, how do you even know? You got no proof at all. Just horrible people? You seem to know them so well! Fact is, them being doctors, they probably contributed far more than most guys on this forum.

I smell class war to be honest.
