The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Well, must admit I was pretty skeptical of that site that had the boxed set for £16.99, but 'lo and behold it arrived this morning. :)

Time to go off and order another copy or two, can never have too much gametime. :D

Have to say, I had the same feeling, but if yours arrived, :D I think I will go and order a couple now :)

I seem to be drawn to this game every couple of months, but never manage to get into it really.

The thing I'm not sure about is what you actually for the "end game" (WoW speak, sorry). Basically say you log on one day, what do you actually do? PvP assaults, or mainly just missions?

Sorry for the very vague question, I just really have no idea what the game actually focuses on.

you focus on what ever you wnat to focus on, If you like missions, do missions, if you like PVP do pvp etc etc

There is no end game as such, it's the same as aspects of real life..
To be better, richer, faster, stronger. more powerful than anyone else

Tey to get yourself into a decent 0.0 corp, and you'll start to see what Eve is actually about.

There are no levels so there is no end game as you can never learn all the skills before they make more.

I agree that eventually you want to be in 0.0 space. Our corp which is the leader of our small alliance has secured some 0.0 space for a small contribution to alliance operations and we are really liking it. You just have to balance out PvP loss with ISK making.

My second copy arrived yesterday morning. :p Placed an order for a third, I'll probably stop there. A small stockpile of 6 months gametime is enough for the moment. ;)

I'm like a lot of the other people in this thread. I go for long periods of time where I completely forget about the game (Like, a year and a half at a time) but then I get reminded about it and think "I'm gonna get back into that".

I think I need to either form a corp with some of the people I play with or get into a corp. Perhaps it'll hold my attention longer as I truly love EVE.

Sorry to pimp my corp but as I have said we are a smallish corp but are affiliated with a larger alliance who are very good. (90% efficiency on the KillBoard)

If anyone is looking for a more entertaining game feel free to drop us a post on our recruitment forum. We ideally need more PVP players (imo) but all are welcome from people with capitals to people that are 1 day old. We do it all.

Well, my Hyperion got taken down today :'(

It cost me 306m. It lasted me about 20 days and in that time it killed the following:

Absolution,
Hyperion,
Abaddon,
Hyperion,
Drake,
Retriever,
Drake,
Abaddon,
Typhoon,
Thorax,
Drake,
Cyclone,
Bestower,
Oman,
Hurricane,
Prophacy,
Deimos,
Dominix,
Tempest,
Phobos.

I jumped into wormhole space to engage a Dominix, Tempest and Drake, the wormhole collapsed behind me, I managed to kill the Domi and Temp, the drake warped off and back to 28km, I was already out of cap boosters but there was nobody on scan at that point. I overloaded my Disrupter and snagged him. I should have just looted the battleship wrecks and got out of there :(.

After the drake popped (He self destructed) I was slowboating it back to the wrecks to loot them and a Phobos warps in, oh crap, blob incoming. As soon as the phobos dropped out of warp he put his bubble up. I engage and manage to kill the phobos before his gang popped me.

Wormhole space is fun, fun but dangerous :).

Hyperion Deathmail

Sadly the gang who killed me got my loot as well as the Dominix and Tempest loot but I killed their phobos and those are expensive .

Edit: Only just managed to find a wormhole back into high sec, 18 jumps away from where I entered :(.

lost my harbibger last night too..

Jumped into a 0.4 sec, screen went blank, 5 sces later - im in a station... WTF...

kills rights, 6 people all -10 sec rating on their... opened convo with them, they wondered why i didnt fire back or say anything, gm's say 0.4 is tough, unlucky. Dont mind lossing the ship or my implants but the jump > black screen > Station is a bit of a smegger....

Still, had enough funds to go buy another one. now learning the art of probes and WH finding...

Want to know how people in a single tempest can go blow up a gate camper group though....

All fun and games..... i will get them one day :)

Thats what i thought.... the guy who killed me said i jumped in, then uncloaked and stayed there.. so they blew me up lol...

Maybe when i was moving the mouse around although the screen was blank the game took it as a move command???

End result, lost a battlecruiser, which to be fair, even if i had screen, 4 battleships + 2 frigs, im not going to last long any ways lol. My fault for jumping into 0.4 sec.

ColiN - live and learn - then batter them all!

Really really really want to get into this game.

I just hear all the horror stories of being podded and losing a lot. Don't think PVP in a game has ever being so brutal.

I used the card on my 6month old trail account, i hanvt got my shuttle, or increased stadings, what can i do?

P.S.

Im in a assault spec'd Caracal (Assualt Missiles)

Not much. The shuttle and increased standings are only given if you create a new account with the code.

It IS brutal.

But you know the golden rule? Never fly anything you cant afford to lose ;)

In fact, make that.... "and leaves you with isk in the bank after rebuilding and refitting.
There is nothing worse than seeing a bank balance in the thousands, when once it was in the millions. :(
