I have a DS but don't spend much time on it, Don't really have many games and never got in to it, As I'm on the move a fair bit I've decided to maybe look at getting a PSP ? are they any good ?

I own a xbox 360, top PC, Wii, DS lite.
Any good games for the DS ? I can't seem to get in to that.

The PSP is rubbish unless you plan on running homebrew on it, then it becomes the best handheld i've ever owned (and i've owned a DS), however the forum rules stop me from going into more detail about this.

Not true tbh, there are loads of decent games for the PSP! God of War, Final Fantasy, MGS, Syphon Filter, my PSP is hacked but I still play more PSP games than homebrew. The homebrew scene is awesome though!

PSP is awesome. Retail games are loads better than any homebrew offering, above poster is talking rubbish

There's some great retail games and some fantastic homebrew apps.

However, without homebrew I definitely still wouldn't use my PSP, let alone use it everyday.

The homebrew scene is awesome though!

The truth!

Ahhh man I really wish there were slacker rules on homebrew discussion, DaedalusX64 has come such along way its amazing stuff. I know Im on thin ice but I dont think there is actually anything illegal about the Daedalus software itself and such a large percentage of homebrew is completely legal and just demonstrates the skills and abilities of individuals its kinda annoying we cant talk about it on a legal level.

The psp homebrew scene would be good if it weren't for the god awful dpad, how can you play 2d classic fighters and platformers with that.
I tried once never again.

roll on the open source pandora for homebrew goodness:)

Yep, CFW and almost all of the apps are completely legal. Unfortunately it's spoilt massively by those using CFW for illegal pirating and those developing illegal apps giving it a bad name. :(

Depends on what games you currently have for the DS, then other DS owners could make some recomendations.

I personally find that the DS is better suited for on-the-move play due to many games being suited towards this (Easier and quicker to bootup or suspend), whereas the PSP is better for much longer hour sessions or just use at home (Most of the decent singleplayer games are just like their bigger brother console variants but on small screen).

RPG / Puzzle - DS
Driving / Sports - PSP

Use both of mine depending what mood im in and what new games are out :)

Don't forget the DS-I is out on the 3rd of April got a lot more features than the DS.

I'd hardly say the DSI has loads more features than the LITE to be honest

As for the OP

I had a DS for years, the GF and I have discovered the shady world of homebrew and now the DS is being used a lot

However I can't offer any opinion on the PSP, I think when I tire of the DS I may invest in an old one

PSP has an awesome selection of retail and downloadable games, also don't forget the UMD-less PSP2/4000 series should be announced at E3 this year so that means from then on all future games will be available via the PSN store which will be great, faster loading times and no battery draining UMD drive, what I'd recommend to the original poster is sticking with the DS for now and try finding some games you like and wait until we see what E3 has to offer in regards to the next PSP.

Games I'd recommend for the DS atm are,

Peggle: Dual Shot (OMFG buy this game) - The game is region free available via import atm.
Tetris DS
The New Super Mario Brothers
Super Mario 64 DS
Mario Kart DS
The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Puzzle Quest: Challenge Of The Warlords
The Phoenix Wright Series
Sonic Rush
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
SimCity DS
Populous DS
Chrono Trigger
Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword
The Castlevania Series
Advance Wars: Dual Strike

And don't forget about all the awesome Gameboy advance games that are out there that work with the DS and they can be found very cheaply,

Mario Kart Super Circuit
Super Mario Bros. (The NES Game)
Super Mario Advance
Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 (A M A Z I N G !!!)
Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3
Super Mario Bros. 3: Super Mario Advance 4
The Legend of Zelda (The NES Game)
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
The Legend Of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Mario Golf: Advance Tour
Metroid Fusion
Metroid: Zero Mission
Advance Wars 1&2
The Castlevania Series
Sonic Advance
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts
Doom 1 & 2 (yeah I know, not the best versions but I'm a hardoned doom fan and they look pretty cool on a micro DS :))

Looking back the GBA had many awesome games, I still think it's one of the best handhelds out.
