plus 1x1tb, 1x750gb, 1x250gb currently being RMA`d

oh and an 80gb and 40gb somewhere

so whats that 8.5tb ish when i get the drives from RMA back, i do need to sort out my backups, i`m sure i have multiple copies of the same things

hmmmm ....

Main PC
1x 250GB
5x 500GB (3 of which are USB connected)

HTPC 1
1x 500GB
1x 1TB

HTPC 2
2x 500GB

NAS
5x 500GB (3 via USB)

Server
1x 250GB
2x 1TB

Server 2
1x 500GB

Laptop
1x 320GB
2x 320GB (via USB)

So that's what, best part of 11TB, plus various other drives in the 100-200GB range which would probably take it over 12TB. Although usable space you can drop 1.5TB off that as the main server and NAS's internal drives are mirrored. Mostly it's video data, (I've had HTPC's with tuners for quite some time) and, yes, things like Linux ISOs. Core, non video data, is probably <250GB which includes a couple of iTunes libraries (all from CDs).

Do I need that amount of storage ... not really. There's probably less than 3.5TB of data total but around 800-900GB of that is held in several different locations. The most important 5-10GB is replicated offsite to my parents using rsync over SSH on a nightly basis and ~700GB is also stored with them via infrequently updated USB storage.

edit: forgot, I do have another 500GB drive that I need to RMA at the moment.
edit2: I should probably point out that there is ~5.5TB free currently and the only reason it's quite so high is the server as gone from 4x500GB RAID5 to 2x1TB RAID1 (which gives a drop in usable space of ~400GB but means the server runs quieter and pulls less power) whcih freed up the 500GB's to go into USB caddies / second server.

On My Server:
6x Sammy F1 drives in hardware RAID5, giving me a nice 5TB single volume. I've got the ports and hotswap bays to add another 2 drives in at some point.

On my gaming comp:
2x Raptor X 150GB in RAID0. Horribly noisy and I Can't wait for the day to replace them with SSD's once decent ones get down to around 1 pound/gb.

Main PC

2*64GB Samsung SSD's Raid 0
1 * 1TB F1
1 * 300GB Velociraptor

Windows Home Server

HTPC

In draw/spare
