The Nokia 5800 Express Media (Tube) Thread

Thanks for that. I dont suppose you know what 'Maximum' means then? It's a bit annoying the longest time setting is 1 week. 2 weeks would be perfect.. lol..

I assume maximum is forever! You could just set a size limit for the inbox, making it store only the latest 100 texts?

Well I've finally ordered mine, should be here in 3-5 working days.

From O2 at £30.00PM with unlimited tinternet, unlimited texts and 100 mins. This will be my first ever contract phone after being on PAYG for years :)

I'm told my number, which I've had for 8 years can be transferred over within 24hours and the credit on my PAYG will be deducted off my second bill = months 2&3 are free ;)

Thats a bad deal mate.

I get 600 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet for £25 a month.

So you were already with o2? Did they offer you that or was it just an offer you had previously seen?

I was with Orange payg for a number of years, told them I wanted to change to a contract and that I wanted the 5800. They offered me 600mins, unlimited sms, and 250mb internet for £19.50 a month (18 month contract). They also transferred the remaining credit I had to take off my first bill and I could retain my number.

I think you could have got yourself a much better deal.

I am on the same as you,

But thought I got that deal because I had my Broadband through O2 aswell.

Yes I'm already with O2 and have been for a number of years, I've used my PAYG W910I (which i hate) for 7mins calling and 260 texts per month over the past 12 months on average.

I was looking at the 5800 as I'm currently using my W910I for texting and my I Pod Touch for surfing. Granted you guys have a better deal than me when it comes to calling but its only a better deal if your actually making use of the item thats offered.

I'm mainly interested in condensing my music library from my I Pod Touch and my phone into one - I hardly ever make calls, I occasionally text but I do a fair bit of surfing so for me I dont think it's too bad a deal?

Amigo, you are missing the point.

We are paying a lot less than you for more.

I am paying £19.50 a month, others got a better deal with o2 than you for less than you pay. You shouldn't be paying more than £25 a mont for that. I would still say that is too much.

£30 a month should really get you a top package with the 5800. Unless that £30 you pay includes insurance.

This may be news to no one but me. I just made the mistake of transferring an AVI file to my 5800 via the Nokia Ovi Suite. Guess what? It converted the file to MP4, and did a pretty good conversion too. I was using Xilisoft Video Converter, but I was getting imperfect results and the file size was doubling in the conversion process. Using Ovi the file is the same size, and the image quality is far superior.

Ginga

How long/size are the mp4 files?

I converted a 700mb avi to 440mb mp4 16:9 and the quality on the 5800 is superb. It was animation. Program used: WinAVI MP4 Converter. Took 16 minutes on the laptop in my sig.

What firmware is everyone using?

Anyone using Opera Mini? Doesn't matter if I install the N95 8GB version? The 5800 isn't listed.

The 5800 is a touch screen phone, the N95 is not. I'd imagine there would be some issues there. The 5800 can draw a fake numpad when running some java stuff but I don't think it would be so good to run Opera on.

Ive installed Opera on mine, working fine here, I probably found it on the official website.
