I don't think the choice is as important as the company. What you don't want is for the girl to want future dates with you because she thinks you are loaded and will buy her loads of stuff. Therefore if you take her somewhere nice but modest if she asks you out again its because she wants you, not your wallet.

Well that was my opinion anyway.

I don't know what was more embarrassing her knowing I was a cheapskate or knowing a was a fat greedy git After that we went to the pub and I got her drunk, that normally did the trick We only went out for a few weeks because she wanted her ex back, the silly bint.

I beat all your first dates. I met this girl who had her own restaurant and we flirted like crazy. She had a basement in the restaurant which I always joked about taking her down there after hours. That's where we had our first date. Both of us were wearing more designer clothing than you would find at a Paris fashion week and we ended up meeting in a damp, moldy basement sitting on old rickety chairs talking. I've dropped my lust for a new sports car but have kept my obsession with A/V gear - it was one or the other Luckily she has no idea how expensive A/V gear is

I have always asked them round to my house, then cooked or ordered take-away and got some films and stuff. Always much preferred this approach to the "date" thing which i find very fake.

Same here. Takeaway is normally the best aproach as i always cook stuff she doesn't like. Followed by some films and a bottle of wine. Normally by then it is late and they don't want to go home with a warm bed upstairs .
