"Perfect" albums

The Sisters of Mercy - Floodland
The Sisters of Mercy - First and Last and Always

The fact that I still listen to both albums almost weekly speaks volumes :)

Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction
+1
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
+1

And History of a Time to Come by Sabbat

All three albums have, for me, not a single bad track on them. They all evoke a particular feel or attitude perfectly from start to finish, and are a fantastic listen

Marillion - Clutching at Straws

Radiohead - The Bends

The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

Fun Lovin Criminals - 100% Columbian

Green Day - American Idiot

Some of the suggestions are laughable, Pendulum - Hold your colour? The Darkness?

Seriously some of you wouldn't know a good album if it ran up to you and kicked you in the arse

It also annoys me when people call the latest albums of great bands that aren't as good as their first couple albums utter trash. Arcade Fire and Killers for example.

They may not be as good as the previous albums but they are still miles better than the conventional chart album releases.

The Darkness?

Full of single worthy songs. FACT.

I knew it would be a controversial suggestion but I thought it would break the tedium of all the predictable ones. I'm not suggesting it's as good as things like DSOTM, etc. etc. but one of my favourite albums released in the last 5/6 years. And in my eyes that makes it near perfect.

Neither of those are 'great' bands. I actually prefer the singles from Sam's Town even if they are basically Springsteen rip-offs.

Arcade Fire and Killers are in my book, great bands

Just because they aren't over so many years old it doesn't mean they can't be seen as great...

People associate the word great with the likes of

The Beatles
Queen
Oasis
etc

Believe it or not, it's a term that can be used when describing contemporary music.

Arcade Fire have made one good album. That does not make them great. As far as contemporary music goes, I could understand someone calling a band that has consistently turned out quality albums, such as The Flaming Lips, great.
