Resident Evil 5 - The Source of All Evil (360 & PS3)

Completed it on normal today, then had a little play around with the unlocked content. Very nice, like the Mercs missions.

Same, just had a look at some of the extra content although I haven't unlocked that much yet really. The unlimited ammo on the magnum is nice :D

How do u unlock all the maps for Mercs mode?
Where are all the Blue Emblems?
I have 13 treasure items to find, any hints?

In RE4 the mercs maps were unlocked as you completed the first stage then second etc getting a certain 'high' ranking each time.

I think I only found 3/30 blue emblems on my first completion :o

I also have 2 and a half row of treasures to find yet. I will definately have a run through this again with the unlimited ammo magnum, makes things a hell of a lot quicker.

Overall a great game, I will try mercenaries later, if I remember from RE4 that was tough and it took me ages but I managed to unlock every character and get the highest rank on each stage with everyone, it took me agesss though. Looks like this and SF4 are the only 2 games I will be playing for the new few weeks/months.

I still need the sodding golden egg in the story mode, the one I picked up in merc mode apparantly doesn't code towards my Gamerpoints despite teh egg on your face award being gotten in emrc mode.

You need to have all 4 eggs in your inventory at once, (or all four on the inventory screen) at the same time. :)

The golden egg is pretty easy to get with patients. You don't need to hunt for it. You just need to wait for it to be laid. :p

on my first run i found 6/30, i saw another 4 in the distance but couldnt actually shoot them down.

will have to take a rifle with me on a second run.

Getting unlimited ammo, does that require gold or points?

I think it is points but how much points does a complete run give, enough for unlimited ammo on a Magnum and which Magnum do you prefer? (I think there are several)

What is it with headshots and a snakelike tentacle thing sprouting from the necks

I am doing some older levels again for emblems and missed treasures but usually I get a few headshots but instead of dying a tentacle comes out of their neck that is even harder to kill than normally, so it is actually a disadvantage to making headshots, why?

It is the "Beast within" If you play on professional a lot of enemies spout the beast within.

Headshot = instant kill, so to make it harder for you some of them evolve. Otherwise you can just go round with a rifle.

Its not a disadvantage, i would question as to what gun you are using. I use an upgraded M3 shotgun, and i just run through the levels on vet and pro

I was doing some of the first levels on amateur using the M92F (almost fully upgraded) as I was only interested in getting treasures and emblems I missed.

So I had the choice of making a headshot and get the 'beast within' needing a lot more hits or the use of the shotgun or go for three bodyshots and kill them that way, the latter option seems a lot easier and quicker.

I miss the atmosphere and chilling music :/ (although i really liked some of the music in RE5, such as the public assembly bit).

Thats fair enough :) One you get the upgraded hydra or m3. ONE shot gun blast can take down 3 or 4 in one go

Dont get me started on the Gatling gun ROFL! SOOOOO much fun :D

Me too :( BUT i cant remember what chapter it is there is some great music. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. The weapon you use has to charge up and then its BBQ time ;) At that point there is some great music :D

What's with the farming? Sounds a bit odd. Can you not complete the game unless you farm?

Farming is just a way to get extra weapons. It's just the RPG nuts trying to collect everything and I've completed the game and got 4 infinite ammo weapons without farming at all, and I haven't done missionaries yet.

Farming is purely to get better guns and/or unlimited ammo, to unlock and upgrade every weapon in the game you need 1,5 million IIRC

Another question, do you get achievement points for finishing the game or only for the levels?
