live messenger 2009, what have they done...

Looks nice though. I've been using it for a little while now and I think it works fine in my opinion. The only thing that niggles me sometimes is that i'm used to just dragging files to the chat box and sending it. Now if its pictures, it starts to share them. I guess its just getting used to it!

Other than that, I like it!
 
Other people have said they don't like it, I don't understand the problem. You have a list where you can see who is online and a window with a text field to type to other people. What exactly has changed.
 
I think it looks much better, and ive found all the options I usually use, so its fine with me. Honestly I dont send files v often so it just live without the drag and drop.

If you want to send then click on Send File :p (although I am not sure that shares it too, never tried it).

I prefer photo sharing than sending, so I don't have to accept a file before seeing it properly

dude how can u use 8.5? i install it but won't let me log in as it says it's too old!
 
I still use 8.5 so I can't comment on the 2009 version, but it doesn't look too bad judging from screenshots. I see no reason to upgrade to it yet anyways.

I don't mind other people liking it, but I and others don't. Let's leave it at that :(

I just installed 8.5 and it works. 8.1 still works as well, didn't have to do anything special.

Search for messenger on the microsoft site, don't use the Windows Live Installer thing, search for the messenger installer.

Not really, to state that it is "absolutely horrible to use" is ridiculous when the core functionality and layout has not changed since it was 'Windows Messenger'. As requested take a look at the oldest one I found and the latest. I can't see what's changed to make it so "horrible".



Maybe there is specific functionality the OP had in mind, but he didn't specify it.

hey dude, I did that from oldversion.com, but when I try to log in, it says it cannot log in with this version, must update, how did you get past that?
