Well chaps after much admiring from afar i finally went out and bought a Nokia 5800 in black (hate the ref and blue trims, looks gash).
What spurred me to go and buy it was the fact my home pc is farked and i havent been able to fix it yet... so i was dedperate for something touch-based with a decent screen that would let me do a bit of surfing and posting, as i am now on it.
First impressions coming from an n82 are largely positive. As an internet, office and media solution this thing blows the n82 out of the water, no doubt about it. Surfing is a joy, the screen rez making reafing webpages a breeze. Both my work and private email are runnng through it and its so convenient im loving it. Im using the stylus 99% of the time simply because its more nimble and accurate than my finger, but from what ive seen so far the screen is pretty responsive.
Downsides vs the n82 are the appalling camera (much worse than n82, eek) and er... Thats it so far. Yet to encounter any major software issues, though ive noticed a minor yet irritating bug where when im entering text it forces the cursor to the ed and wont let me move the cursor back to edit or correct anything without deleting my way back there.
Ad a big symbian fan the os is second nature to me and im loving the touch implementation of everything.
Ill report back on call and music quality etc next week when i get to my work computer... But for now, it looks promising, i cant get over how great it is for emailing and surfin compared to a low rez non-touch phone like the n82.
