The Nokia 5800 Express Media (Tube) Thread

Mobiles.co.uk :)

I was with them before (and on Orange) so managed to get a retention deal.

Unlimited internet was a £5 add on, which I took. £30 a month all in. :)

that deal sounds great.
think i might take the internet off and see if i can get it abit cheaper.

will i still be able to put some programs on my phone without the internet?

Yup, it has Wi-Fi :)

Also, a lot of progs come in JAR files or similar so can be installed through PC Snyc :)

do you have this phone mate?

will i just be able to connect it to my wireless at home then and surf through that at no cost?

well, i am finding the alphanumeric pad much more accurate than anything else for finger use. I am runing into slowdown and hitching issues though, and i think that thir is the lack of memory rearing its ugly ginger, bucktothed head. I mean honestly, would it really have killed nokia to put at least 128mb on this phone? Its not as though that would cause unecessary competition with the N97, and i think its a silly design choice on nokias behalf. On the whole though, im really liking this phone simply for the sheer joy it makes for emailing and browsing, that alone has made it worth the purchase for me. Plus i actually think i prefer the responsive resisistive screen to the capacative ive used, i find a stylus much more accurate than my chunky finger for browsing and texting, much less chance of hamfistedly pressint the wrong button, and it really does respond to the lightest touch. Its alsn exactly the same size as my n82 so very pocketablx. Id give it a healthy 7/10 at the mo.

Just rang Orange and they offered me

Nokia 5800 for FREE
Unlimited text
200 minutes
Internet Add On
18 Months Contract
£22 a month.

What do you reakon to that?

Trying to get fast replies as the guy is ringing back in an hour.

Not bad if you don't ring a lot. I got that but with 600 mins for £19.50 a month. You could do worse.

standard nokia browser, its really very good, much better than opera mini imo. :)

I find Opera Mini loads quicker. Doesn't take as much data to load.

Loading the OcUK Forum index for example takes up 850kb or so on the standard browser. Opera Mini, its more like 90kb. I dont like the zoom though. Much better on the standard browser. I also like the landscape view too.

Does it load quick on yours?

Also, anyone got any ideas how to set an Hotmail account to your mailbox?

Mine is coming tomorrow in the post.

On Orange. 18 month, 200 mins, unlimited text £18

ganna see how it goes without the internet and might add it on at a later date.

been reading through this mammoth thread to read peoples little reviews and i can't wait to have a play with it.

You guys will have to put up with all my questions tomorrow when i start installing stuff.

Thanks to everyone who has given there input in this thread as it's helped me out a lot and i am certain it has helped others.

I have seen guides to set up hotmail, however most seem a bit flakey.

I didn't really like opera mini, and I couldn't get the fingertouch one to work so I am using the built in browser which isn't too shabby.

waiting for the post man to deliver my phone. How long do you need to charge it up for when you first get it? and can i play with it while i am charging it for the first time or is it best to leave it off.

Thanks, probably tons more question to come ;)
