Has anyone seen this new advert?

Didn't that other advert get banned? Where there was a reel of videos playing and getting faster and faster, one of them was someones head getting slapped.

That was for heroin! The one where the blonde bint jacks up, has a school scene and then her dad give her a slap round the head? Made me laugh that one did.... :o

Theres just nothing worthwhile about the add in anyway, not to mention that, it will never stop(domestic abuse that is) nor will it go away, some people are just cruel, thats life, leave it or don't, theres FAR more important things in the world to worry about and spend money trying to fix than domestic abuse.

You're missing my point - as I said before, the ad isn't about showing, per se, how horrific domestic violence is, it's about showing how helpless and defenceless victims of domestic violence can be. People know about the injuries and the physical abuse; people are desensitised to these; so the advert is trying to shake things up by changing the formula and juxtaposing two unexpected situations.

I'm disappointed that you feel that domestic abuse is such a pointless cause; have you, or anyone you know, ever suffered at the hands of a violent family member? I also don't think it's fair they way you seem to think that victims of domestic abuse have only themselves to blame. I don't think you really understand the complex issues that these people have to deal with.

Personally I think it's a very worthwhile cause, and whilst as has been pointed out, men get it nearly as bad as women, the way the advert is presented is designed to make people identify with the main character. The man's voice is distorted and basically irrelevant; and the woman curled up on the floor could be any of us. The fact that she is a movie star and known for her 'tough girl' roles further reinforces this point - as you said, if it could happen to her, it could happen to any of us.

If you were an ad executive, how would you run this campaign? Or would you just leave these people without the public voice they deserve?
