I ordered one of these Monday afternoon around 3pm and it arrived Tuesday morning at 11.30
The box has been opened and re-sealed - I suspect to put the power lead in because everything else was sealed and clearly unused.
I haven`t gone looking for dead pixels but think there is one in the bottom left only noticeable on a light background.
Anyway I have to say I`m not that bowled over by the screen - I bought the 24" OcUK Value DGM VA panel off ebay a couple of weeks ago but realised that the DVI port is not hdcp compliant so I couldn`t connect my PS3 - the idea is to connect all my "sad" equipment in one place. Race Seat - wheel - PC and consoles.
I actuallly prefer the picture on the DGM panel and more critically find that it was better in racing games - the NEC seems to show a bit of movement problems ie watching a replay of other cars in rFactor they seem to jump a little. Tried messing with the various set-ups including Game 2 and through mode which supposedly reduces input lag to almost nothing. Also tried the various MP modes which then affect the brightness and colour balance.
I can`t quite find the right settings balance either - seems really bright which washes out the colours. If I turn down the brightness right down to 15/20 then it is necessary to put the contrast up to add a bit of punch to the colours but that again introduces too much brightness - might fiddle with the gamma (black level) setting.
I have tried the suggested hdmi setting earlier in this link and it did improve the picture a bit even though I am using DVI (for PC) & hdmi for PS3.
At the moment in terms of a PC monitor my £150 ebay purchase is shading this supposedly top of the line 24" model.
To be fair if I had not seen the DGM monitor then I would be very impressed with the NEC in isolation.
Perhaps I just need to find the right combination of settings of which there are admittedly a lot.
It is a quality product mind - great construction and good functionality.
Any tips very welcome in terms of settings to get the best out of this monitor.
Cheers
