Samsung Omnia I900 owners thread.

Hi, found this fantastic thread on a google search while preparing to chuck this phone out of the window in frustration... And, well, I'm writing this message from it now! You've been invaluable since no one decided to put any sort of instruction manual in the box!

Am currently without the PC cable and software (though I think you can download it all from the windows and samsung websites as far as I can tell) - is there any other way to add apps to the phone?

Its running PDA:i900XXHH1/BVHH1 PHONE:i900USTII at the moment. was unlocked from Orange, though still runs the branded software. Would like to get rid of this and I hear that flashing to later ROMs improve battery life and touchscreen sensitivity. Orange software also doesn't include MSN! Which is the most recent official ROM floating around?

Only had a few problems running it so far - when on youtube, to play a video it loads MS video player, which often wont play the clip, and when it does in awful picture quality. sound is fine though. I have a similar problem using bbc iplayer, but fantastic pic quality and no sound whatsoever - again video loads in MS video player.

Have noticed camera won't load with any other programmes loaded "not enough video memory" - any way around this?

Any way to disable GPS connection? Only want to use wi-fi on here.

Sometimes I find that I can't click links on Opera, only open in new tab - anyone else have this problem?

Have found that when on yahoo mail website I can only type in recipient and title - won't recognise message box to bring up keyboard. Anyone else found this? Don't want to use programme built in on phone.

Sorry if this is a bit long! Any help would be hugely appreciated :)

The latest official firmware can be found on the Samsung website: http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp

Anyone here using slide to unlock (S2U2)? I downloaded it primarily to have full screen caller ID but the picture is pixelated and blocky even if I give the caller a massive contact picture. Any way around this?

Also, anyone know of any programs that will increase the size of the UI?

Well I've upgraded to DZIA5 and its flipping great!!!

Make sure you get the fingerkb v2 as well!

fingerkb v2 is excellent

Dangerous, was your Omnia ever on a branded firmware?

Im really looking for how to unbrand my BOHH5 Omnia so that i can get the latest and fastest firmware to get the best out of my phone.

Excellent, i could really use some advice from you if thats ok? :)

I was going to follow a thread on Modaco who i think was by Taril, however only yesterday the thread was wiped, it had everything i had to do to get it T-mobile clean.

Is it possible that you could point me in the right direction to get my BOHH5 Omnia onto the latest unbranded?

Right you need a XP machine wih active sync installed then get the Samsung modem driver from:

http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/fr/sub02_xp.jsp

Just saw a good guide http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-...ooked-rom-dxia5-dxia2-spb-mobile-shell-2-1-5/

And the install file is there as well.

Thank You Dangerous.

Very much appreciated.

I shall give this a go. I wouldnt mind it at all if T-Mobile kept up with everyone else and just released firmware, however with the last experience with them and the N95 i wouldnt get my hopes up.

Nah they wont and this version is much better than anything T-Mobile or any other network would come out with.

Battery life is a lot better with this new versions as well.

When you flashed your Omnia from BOHH5, did you go straight to custom or did you flash to an official Samsung ROM first?

I noticed that in the instructions it says its a good idea to flash to official first, however i cant find a link to the official one.
