Bioshock 2 Gameplay vid!

If I had a choice I'd rather play a Splicer than a Big Daddy - How fun would it be jumping off walls like that :D

You weren't a big daddy in the original though, you were just yourself in the suit. Now you're the actual first big daddy, seems like they've just added plasmids in for the hell of it.

The big sister thing sounds a bit stupid as well :/

If the article quote regarding "toning down the Big Daddies due to the first one being too powerful" is true then the Big Daddy thing is plausible.

Tend to agree with you /re the Big Sister thing though. I was hoping it was Tenebraum (without knowing much about the plot for BioShock 2), but that video suggests not.

Looks exactly the same to me. :(

It probably will be more of the same. If it's got reasonable multiplayer (a feature that was suggested to be likely for the second game) then it might be more worthwhile.

Looks exactly like Bioshock 1 to me, but I guess that's a good thing. I never liked the idea of playing as the Big Daddy all the time anyways so it's 50/50 for me.

can't wait for this :D

loved the first game, one of the most entertaining experiences ive had playing a game.

I think they did a brilliant job with the whole design/atmosphere of rapture and it certainly gave character to the entire gameworld which made it all the better.

Certainly one of the most visually impressive (art style wise, not 'graphics' per say for those of you who will misunderstand lol) games in recent years imo.

SPOILERS

Playing as a big daddy will be interesting, thats one of the things i think allot of people were a tiny bit dissapointed in at the end of the first game in that you donned the big daddy suit but didn't really gain any abilities like that monster of a drill.

"Big Sister" is a little sister whose grown up and built her own big daddy suit. Also psychologically damaged from her little-sister conditioning. She seems to want to keep everything the same as her childhood (Big daddies and little sisters for ever) including kidnapping girls from the surface for more little sisters.

Also given how the years work out, I'm placing an early bet that she was your original little-sister ward (so probably the first little-sister?)

Looks like more of a tossed together cash in on the popularity of the original, even graphically nothing seems to have changed.

Ah, interesting.

wish id played the demo before buying bioshock
guess i was sweeped up in the hype

what a waste of money
Join the club. The demo was actually rather scary so I went out and bought it hoping for something to rival the superb Condemned. What I got was a yawn fest 'rpg' held on by a superb plotline. I'll not even touch this game but instead just read about it's plotline on the web.

Looks good but, why on earth call this Bioshock 2? Why not Bioshock standalone expansion ? Blame the consoles for those graphics though, zero improvement form the original. Still looking forward to it though.

Wiki entry for it has been totally updated, sounds amazing. When i compare it to recent games like Fear & FO3 (Oblivion was miles better) i do miss the days of me playing Bio'.
In what way is oblivion better than FO3? the characters are uglier and uglier animated, the story is uninteresting, and it has rubbish like magic and scrolls. Guns > Bows :) imo. But the details in oblivion are not good at all comapred to Fo3.

Can't really fault it graphically, sure its not that different from the original but it does the job, has reasonable attention to detail and consistant theme.

Pretty much hangs on the storyline and tbh it doesn't look like theres gonna be enough new or intriguing to draw the player in.

Yes but Wolvenstein 3d worked too...

Why have we pc gamers stopped expecting new groundbreaking graphics ?
It's all the fault of xbox360 and ps3, until the next gen consoles come out we'll be stuck with the same old graphics like always.

Sure we can have nicer filtering, higher AA levels and higher res.
But what about nicer lightning effects, nicer image processing, nicer effects, nicer models overall, nicer shaders ( shader 4.0 is a joke compared to 3.0 in terms of visual improvement), etc ?

Why should we expect groundbreaking graphics from every game?

I understand your point, but if every dev spent all their time trying to wow us with amazing visuals, each game would take massively more than the few years it already takes. Take DNF, which has had so many engine swaps it's been a lifetime in the making.

In utilising the same engine, but creating new levels, weapons, possibly dynamics and whatnot, Bioshock2 will be out only 2 years after the original.

I'm looking forward to the game, whether it's a crysis beater or not.

You care about graphics way, way, way too much. Persona 4 is better than everything that the PC got last year (exclusives) and it's a PS2 game for christs sake.

Mind you Persona 4 came out last month in Europe and I'm pretty confident it will still out do PC this year.

Graphics aren't everything, PC has a great back catalogue but the future is bleak so far.

Do you have any more details about Persona 4? I just did a quick google and it definitely looks interesting - but most games of its ilk that I've tried have been pretty awful.

It's, err....interesting! Really unique, excellent voice work and a good story so far (I'm about 10 hours in, some people finish with 90+ hours game time). The music is also very catchy and well done.

Combat is quite fun, pretty basic RPG turn based combat (bit faster I'd say though), it's really well written and HILARIOUS at times, I recommend it.

I'm playing mostly for the story as I have gotten strangely attached to the characters, but the gameplay is enjoyable, it's kinda like Pokemon where enemies have resistance to some types of magic and weaknesses to others, you also have Personas which are basically creatures you can control. (again like Pokemon!)

At £15 you can't go wrong, when I finish it I'm gonna buy Persona 3 which is very similar. (completely different story though)

Edit; Should mention that turn based RPG's have never been my thing, this is the first one I've really enjoyed. I was playing it on an emulator but was tired of graphical and sound glitches so I went and got myself a PS2 and bought it so I could enjoy it glitch free. :D

Also if you do get the game, be warned that you are basically watching a game rather than playing it for the first 2 hours or so as said in the Edge review. :)

Sounds very different to the games I play these days so it's most probably worth a look. I'll wait for it on PC or try to steal my housemate's ps3 sometime (assuming it's compatible) I think :)

edit: Looking at your edit, I was also considering an emulator ;) I do tend to prefer emulators over the original system for the extra graphics/savestate support.
