Resident Evil 5 - The Source of All Evil (360 & PS3)

Co-Op mode is all kinds of fun!
Just done from quite early in the game, where you get the MP5 (or three, :p) at the beginning of it, to the bit on the back of a jeep with a mate, great fun!
Surprised how little ammo there is though.
Im being very frugal, as is my mate. Head shots, lots of knife usage, slow firing of even the rapid fire weapons, and still we're struggling for ammo!

I'm not sure about RE:5, but in RE4 it definately seemed that the more frugal you were being with ammo, the less you were given. If you had almost no ammo in RE4, enemies seemed to drop ammo more frequently. When you were a surgeon with the shotgun, you were still short of bullets. I imagine the game regulated the ammo availible to keep you on your toes.

Perhaps the same occurs in 5?

Dunno, but we were both struggling with lack of ammo tbh.

Anybody else notice the game locking up since the patch (360), played it for a few hours Saturday and got two lock ups both on inventory screen.

Me and a mate have just got to the cave after marshlands. How far into the game are we?
Feels like we dont have any good weapons yet as well.
We've got between us:
2x handguns
2x MP5s
1x Rifle
1x Draganov
1x shotgun
1x magnum

And are the melee armour kits worth getting?

Not really on the Normal/Vet levels I found, although when you have finished the game and you start getting infinte ammo for weapons you may find that the only thing you can spend your cash on will be the vests!

You're a little past half way by the sounds of it.

Hi people. Im looking to get the infinate rocket launcher and from what ive seen you have to complete the game in under 5 hours?
Can you achieve this from the chapter select and bettering your times on a level and therefore lowering the overall game time? Or do you have to run through all in 1 hit?
Thanks
John

This game was such fun when i played it through with my friend on Vet. Even with so many nuisances with the control system and generally just dying many times in places i somehow found it very fun even when i almost hated the demo.

I will avoid the single player due unless i'm trying to get random upgrades for a few weapons, I just can not get along with the ai.

Great game, got it for only a week and already finished all difficulties.

Probably asked before but is versus mode worth getting? From youtube vid it looks like Mercenaries mode with other people in it?

Yes, more or less. Versus uses the same characters and stages as mercenaries except that you have to unlock the additional characters with exchange points.

There are two modes. First is Slayer which is basically mercanaries with a partner. Object is to kill Majini and get more points than the other team. On Xbox LIVE, most games usually degenerate into a Deathmatch though, as people just run around ignoring the monsters and killing the other team.

The other mode is Survivors, where the only object is to kill the other team. (you can still kill the Majini, but don't get points for it).

I bought it and thought it was decent but not great. Main problem is the RE5 control system isn't suited to pvp as you can't shoot and move. 1 on 1 battles consist of both people standing rooted to the spot firing at each other. Whoever has the bigger gun wins so there's not much depth to it.

Does anyone know how to reduce screen-tearing on the 360 version of RE5? I was under the impression from reviews that there was major screen tearing in the cut scenes, but none in the actual game, when in reality it's really bad... all the time.

I've got it hooked up via HDMI @ 1080p, I did read setting it to 720p will supposedly make it a bit better, so I'll try that when I get home - but is there anything else I can try?

Something odd just happened. I had just started a game on easiet mode to get the rocket launcher with unlimted ammo. Then some fellow joined my game (the kind who just spams his RL everywhere whilst i'm enjoying limited ammo kinda thing). But i only have a silver account, is there a fre gold weekend going on rihgt now?

720p worked for me

720p worked for me

Thanks, just got back and tried it, seems to work good so far (only tears in cut-scenes). Do you know if it stops the tearing in Co-Op too?

edit; even in 720p co-op split-screen has stupid amounts of screen tearing for me :(.

edit again; 1080i seems to look good, very little tearing in cut-scenes and gameplay :p

After playing the demo and getting annoyed with the controls,I thought i'd get the game and give it a go.
After 20 mins I was still very annoyed with the controls.Don't know if I can even be bothered playing it anymore.

Apologies for the thread bump but since owning this since it's release and having not played the demo before purchasing I've just fired this up for the very first time and oh my god..... arguably the most infuriating game ever and I'm only at the very first point of contact with any zombies!

How can you possibly play a game that has such a fast tempo with the age old Resi controls? I never played Resi 4 either so obviously dont know what direction that took the series but this seems a classic case of 1 step forward 3 steps back, I finally realise why it got so much negative press from gamers when it was released.

Cant imagine I'm ever going to want to put myself through trying to play this load of rubbish again.... or maybe I'm just crap? :p

EDIT: Oh also the whole loading screens in-between cut scenes? What is this 1998?

Well I just got this a week ago, And although yes the tempo is fast and the controls are old style resi, I find it still works. Me and my friend have been playing it split screen local co-op, And we're loving it.

Not sure how far we are at the minute, Without giving too much away we just got an Access Denied event on an elevator and was greeted by an interesting battle.

I have spent most of my money on upgrades, My Shotgun is a beast =D

looking forward to another play through now my Co-op friend is used to the way it plays, She's never played resident evil before, and it was some what a chore keeping her alive early on. haha
