Looks like a game you'll play when you need a bit of fun, pick up and play sort of thing.
Why carnt they just take Desert Combat and update the graphics and your done. Leave the core gameplay and the jet handling! alone , and no more of those terrible lock on missiles etc such as in bf2. The dumb fire missiles in DC were great and made air combat great. But it was also well balanced, 1 shot from a tank shell could take a plane down if the pilot flew too low. Bf2 you hit a heli or plane with a tank shell and it does **** all ?? thats no fun. Also no more of these stupid call in assets, like arty. DC you actually had to get a spotter and aim the howitser or MLRS your self. Much more fun, and so you didnt mind getting killed by it ,where as arty in bf2 is so lame. Why do devs think we want more and more "cool gadgets" and stuff, it just ruins the game. I could go on moaning but I better stop.
Patrick started by confirming that all three versions of ’43 (Xbox360, PS3 and PC) will be released this summer. Of course we tried to get as much information regarding the PC-version, but the development of that version is still a bit secret, which resulted in many broad and unspecific answers. Both Patrick and Gustav ensured that the PC-version will not be a bad console-port, but a real and solid PC-version.
The sound-recording session that DICE had with the Swedish military was partly related to BF1943, but DICE do have these sessions regularly to expand their audio-library.
• Punkbuster or similar anti-cheat software will be released for the PC-version. What and how it will work is yet to be seen.
• The patches for BF2 and BF2142 are making progress. We can expect more information and a beta during April.
• The financial crisis has not affected DICE much. They have noticed somewhat of a drop in sales, but no employees have been fired due to the crisis. Mirror's edge sold less than expected.
• There are no plans of releasing a mod or map editing-tool for BF1943.
• At the most, 15 people have been involved in the production of BF1943. In the beginning, there was only Patrick, Gustav and one more guy.
• The units in BF1943 do not look like those in Battlefield Heroes, that misconception might have come from the first cartoonish trailer that was released.
• The maximum amount of players for the PC-version is yet to be decided. There is nothing that says it has to be 24.
some encouraging news ;-
.Let's hope they don't mess this up, I want a modern WW2 game like battlefield.
WW2> Moderncombat imo, nothing beats a good ww2 fighter fight in BF1942, rather than the lame guided & heat seeking bull**** in modern combat games. Heat seeking/guided bombs and missiles ruined air combat really.
I used to love the air combat in the Battle of Britain map.
I used to love the air combat in the Battle of Britain map.
there is still an active 24/7 Battle of Britain server last time i went on.

I'll stick to my fond memories
Oh and will people get a grip when it comes to EA they are a company to make money and if they will see an opportunity to make it they will. I hope they do make loads of cash as this will only mean more games for us.
