Howdy :)

I currently have my OS on an old 36GB 8MB raptor, and my games on a 1TB F1..

If I moved to a 300GB Velociraptor with a 40GB partition for OS and the rest for my Steam folder, will I notice the difference in either OS response, application load times, or game load times?

Has anyone else made a similar move (ooooooooold raptor to VRaptor)?

I would think you should see some difference as the newer Raptor uses the SATA2 interface so should be capable of faster transfers, but going from one Raptor to another the increase wont be as high as from a std drive to a Raptor of course.

I suggest you have a larger partition for your OS (if it's Vista...) as 40Gb is a tad small methinks.

Get an Intel X25-M, put OS + Apps on it, and data on the F1. Forget the Velociraptor.

Well done there, Sherlock.

X25-M = £321 = 0.24GB/£
Vraptor = £218 = 1.38GB/£

If I had >£300 to spend, and only needed 80GB, then your advice would be valid, but thanks.
